Palm Desktop - no user found on startup

Has anyone experienced a situation where no User is found when you try to run Palm Desktop [for Sony CLIE]? I have an NX60 and can hotsync without errors, but I think it's just backing up my files and not syncing with the Palm Desktop. The problem occurs when hotsycing on a secondary (vs. primary) PC. It used to work...

Actually, I am currently experiencing this problem, but not with a Clie. I'm going to try reinstalling the Palm Desktop to see if that clears things up. Have you tried that?

I resolved it once before, but I don't recall how...I think I copied a file from my primary hotsync computer to this secondary one (the users.dat maybe?).

It's likely that a re-install will fix it, but ideally the root cause could/would be determined.

Please lemme know what you find.
