Hi guys

I have recently bought a NX-60 and to my great surprise I came to know that I can use CF cards in the NX-60.
Since am feeling a bit lazy I want to know which driver I should use for the best performance (i know a few are around is eruware the best one)

Also I wanted to know if the IBm 1gb microdrives are compatible with the NX-60. Will CF cards from any manufacturor work with the NX-60 ie I can pick up the cheapest CF cards and hope that they will work with the NX-60 with the eruware driver say.

Thnaks guys

With the NX60, I would say that the Eruware Driver is better than the other patched driver, and another update on the eruware driver is coming up pretty soon according to ayasin, so...a CF driver with tech support from a company is definitely better than a patched one with zero support.. Most brands of CF cards will work pretty well with the CF driver. But as for the IBM Microdrives, I remember it was listed on Eruware's website that it only works in read only mode...so you can't write to it. I do not know if the newer update will address these problems.. but to play safe, you can go on down to the eruware site to check out the list of CF cards that has been tested to confirm they work witht he CLIE and CF driver....

Lazy to find out more on the Clie?? Please do not be....you can use the search function on Cliesource to find everything you need to know about the CF driver war, including where to download toe patched drivers if u wanna try them out...

I'm tooo lazy to do the search for ya :P so...search the forums to get the various more detailed info abt the drivers.....

I am pretty sure that Eruware's is the only one for purchase...that I know of. From what I have read, the microdrive is compatible, but only in read-only mode. www.eruware.com has a list of verified/supported cards.

Looks like RICLEO beat me to it.

Hope this helps.:)

Thanks guys for the super quick replies.

I have been spending some time with the video section and already wanna buy a cf card. Anyone wanna sell me cheap 512mb ;-)

As for the laziness am more anxious to know it all without spending the effort ;-)

another q

am I right in assuming mp3s, mpgs, picures apps , data all run of the cf cards. if so woooooow
cf is much cheaper than the MS

They run in CF with the patched driver or Eruware driver..but you still need a MS for the patches to work...The MS acts to trick the Clie into believing that it is playing the Mp3s/Movies from a MS. So you'll still need a MS...and MSticks are much more reliable and stable, due to the fact that the CF drivers can cause your Clie to hard reset at times....

The high power requirements are main reason the Microdrive is read only. It uses as much as 10 times the power of a CF memory card. It has partially worked for some, but for most, it would basically trash the Microdrive's contents!

so I have to have a memory stick to make the CF cards work, damn, i have an 8,32,256 mb cf cards lying about and I cant use them unless i purchase a Memory stick. Sowill it work withthe lowest memory stick and the cheapest I can gat.
Also are using CF cards unreliable, as i never planned to store imp data there just ebboks mp3s and movies but is it possible that they will crash the os once ina whle

Yes you'll need a MS to use Cf.

The lowest memory MS should work(but I've never used abything below 128MB B4, so no guarantees on my part), but you may want to get at least a 32MB MemoryStick. With this stick, you can do a complete backup of the RAM in your Clie on the stick using MSback up and restore from the MS if you encounter any error that requires you to do a hard reset.

The reason why a back up is important is because your patched CF driver and mspro update and system updates all reside in RAM. If you do a hard reset, all the RAM info is deleted, and you won't be able to use the CF without the patched driver and MSPro update. Thus, get at least a 32MB MS? MSes are definitely more reliable...

Finally...is CF use reliable? Depends on which driver you choose. The Sony Driver is more stable if you want reliability... but the Eruware is more user friendly.. and I think and hope that their next few updates will solve previous stability issues.

there is so much information abt CF drivers that i am dazed.
If someone would write a tutorial from these resources listing all the drivers then i wouldnt mind hosting it too incl all the files too.
rite now i think i need some time to figure which driver to use and try all of those but i would really prefer an off the box one that would run with most aps without hitches or is that just a pipe dream....

Hi,
is anybody experiencing the same problem, that with the cf card inserted, the camera saves the images in .tmp format?
Can this be changed?
I asked this questions now three times without sucess. Please may anyone help?
Thanks.

First off... I think people need to know which model of NX are you using...2ndly... which CF driver are you using... in order to help you.

By the way...you can always rename the files from .tmp to .jpg to get it to work.... The hacks made an otherwise useless CF slot somewhat multimedia compatible...It may not be perfect, but its better than nothing...so if the problem can't be solved(which is likely to be the case), you should try to live with the limitation and try to make full use of the limited abilities?

Thanks for the answer.
I am using a NZ90, a scandisk CF 256 and the Peliga driver.

Hmmm..... I've no experience with the NZ90...so I can't help you much there...I use a NX80v...maybe other NZ users can give you a hand?

I only had that with the movie recorder using the EruWare driver. Trouble is that it's not consistant amongst the Clies, for some it works, others, well...

It's Sandisk and Pelaca. I suppose German is your primary language. Not to worry, I only know English and I botch it as well ;)
