I'm using AOL Instant Messenger 1.1 right now but not in love with it. I find the fact that in the place where you enter text to 'say' once you send it, it doesn't clear out the field. Total pain!
I'm wondering what other IM programs are available for use now that I've got the WiFi card. Anyone know of a program like Trillian but for the Palm OS?
TIA for any info and links you can provide.

Woah, am I reading their site correcetly? $24 a year to use Verichat? I'm not quite sure I'm willing to pay annually to use their service.
Please correct me if I'm wrong or misreading something.......

I'm running ICQ on my nx70 w/ the wifi card. It's great! Downloads my contact list off the ICQ server and everything, just like web-icq.
Best of all, no stupid banners either. =)
It's on http://www.icq.com

I paid for Verichat and I´ve been happy with it. Also it is the only one that I know that supports MSN Messenger.

Yeah, I got Verichat to give it a try and it's pretty nice. Wish it had the option to change that stupid 'incoming IM' sound. I don't want it off, just something shorter and lets annoying.

I agree with you, the sound is very annoying... I turned it off.

I paid the $24 for the VeriChat and I'm very happy with it. I know it's a bit high considering that I will have to pay $19 more for it next year. However, I get IM and MSN in one. The interface is very nice, but it could be improved. I e-mailed the developers with a few suggestions but they never e-mail me back. I don't know what kind of customer service is that. I hate when companies don't listen to what customers have to say.
I wanted to get HR+ support and font color option. I don't know if they just don't want to work on it or they don't care. Has anybody e-mailed them and get a response?
Thanks,
Al

I did, and got a reply really quick. As I understand, after reading comments at TreoCentral, these guys are really good at replying back to emails, so it is really strange that you didn't get a reply.
I actually asked the same questions as you, and their answer was that the next version will have color font support and Emoticons, but HR+ will be in a future release.
Also, from what I hear from a friend who was a Silicon Valley Palm Users Group yesterday, they are about to put file transfer support in it as well -- converting word files to pdbs on the fly and letting you download to the palm when a buddy sends the file over IM -- that would be *really* cool.

Maybe I wrote them to the wrong address. Could you give me their e-mail address?
Thanks,

Is it possible to use Verichat without a paging address - I have an NX70 with a WiFi card, but it looks like this software is designed for use with Smartphones and/or CDPD modems?

Yes, I use it with my analog CF 56k Princeton modem. It just needs a simple connection.

Yeah, been working great for me. Only thing I noticed that might be a bug, might just be due to the space required...but you can't scroll back to the begining of a 'chat' after awhile. I noticed it this morning actually....I could only go back a few lines......not a biggie.

I like it too because I use all three services. I wish you had the happy/sad faces like AIM though.

I like it, but I'm not sure I can get around the whole "pay for service" issue. I don't need the access on my phone. I wish MSN would develop a palm OS for their messenger....

Maybe its a conflict of interest. Bet there is a MSN client for PocketPC.
