I sent myself a jpeg attachment and downloaded thru wifi using Iambic mail. When I clicked on the attachment in the email, is said "unknown attachment". However, I was able to open the downloaded attachment using AcidImage. Wonder why Iambic Mail can't open file? If not a jpeg file, what else? Can a text file attachment be read? Maybe this feature is a hoax.

Oh so the attachment will still say unknown evn if u wirelessly retrive them.. ok is there any way when i hotsync, i can force it to hotsync the attachment even if it says i cannot read them due to lack of software.. so this way i can still view the pictures via acidimage..

Maybe you need to in the preferences, check "save attached files on memory card"?

That's where mine go. What about tools/preferences/handling:
"keep emails with attachments:? Do you have that checked?

What desktop email client do you use? Perhaps some setting there?

No. I just checked using cable. I resent same email that I just wifi hotsynced. This time the attached file didn't move, and the file name has a little garbage can icon next to it. " deleted or not downloaded 'cause no program known to handle"
This calls for tech support, which I will email in tomorrow morning. Sorry I wasn't able to help. I will respond if I get some answers though.

Maybe not quite a complete hoax as it works for me via wireless. Never tried to HotSync it and download messages. It seemed to me that it would be pointless.

I had a similar issue with Iambic mail and this is the answer I received from tech support regarding why I can't view attachments using Iambic Mail:
"you will still need the application that opens the corresponding pc native format files on your handheld.
Agendus PRO/agendus MAIL only deliver/receive those attachments to the memory card and it's functionality ends there.
It does not have/promise the ability to modify/view the file.
For that you will need separate program depending on what kind of file you are sending.
If it's a spreadsheet, you will need a palm program that can read native pc xls. format and so on.
Hope this clarifies everything." :)

That reply took a whole week from the time I sent a support "ticket" on their site.
Thought I'd save you some time..

I can understand that you would need a specific program (ie. docs to go) to view an excel spreadsheet attachment, but how come I can't even view a jpeg attachment with agendus BUT I can with the included clie mail software????

Here's the responses I got from support:
Isn't this program able to at least receive and save attachments?
Yes but only via wifi, if hotsync it will only transfer the attachment
if you own fastwriter or tinysheet and the attachment is a doc/ xls
Then the attachment will get converted to pdb and get hotsynced over.
Is it also able to view certain file attachments too?
No, You will still need the application that opens the corresponding pc
native format files on your handheld.
Agendus PRO/agendus MAIL only deliver/receive those attachments to the
memory card and it's functionality ends there.
It does not have/promise the ability to modify/view the file.

Looks like only way to get attachments is thru wifi. Then navigate to file and open using viewer. Not many progs open native pc files available yet. I responded to above email with question whether I could open the wifi attachments with fastwriter or tinysheet.

You are welcome. I am using Dataviz mail mostly because it syncs with Lotus Notes. I like ClieMail because it integrates best with other programs. I have AgendusMail because I practically live in Agendus all day. Gee, would be nice if they all had each others functionality.
