Hey all, I am trying to search for a company name in my NX80 using the find function, and when I input the name, it gives me the following error:

StringMgr.c, Line:72, Null string passed

You may need to restart by performing a soft reset. Please press the reset button.

I then tried other searches, it goes to the search screen for a split second and switches immediately to the same error message. I reset as it says to do and it continues to happen, anyone have any suggestions?

I had this for a while, I'm not sure if it was the same error number, but it would always crash when searching. First I deleted Adobe Reader, because I found a thread suggesting that might cause conflicts, and besides that app is a waste of space. At that point it changed from a fatal error to just an error where you can press "OK" and it continues the search. With that half-solved, I was able to see that the app that was being searched during the error was Clie Mail. So I deleted all the preference files I could find for Clie Mail (they all began with CM) and that fixed the problem. Don't know if this will help in your case.

I don't have Adobe Reader installed in there, so I don't think it was that, How did you find these preference files? How did you delete them? Thanks.

Use Clie Files and delete the files beginning with CM as KP says.

I didn't say that would fix your problem, I only answered the questions you had asked. The find issue I don't think has ever been resolved. Off the top of my head I don't remember the reason other than it had something to do with some files being on the memory stick and not in RAM. Again, it's vague in my mind.

This was an ISSUE? are there any threads regarding this? I put in a search through the threads and nothing helpful was coming up......

Skimming through several thousand threads I found some. Issues vary and there are misc causes. Happy reading :)!
Find is not necessarily reliable and there are more threads somewhere. Maybe something here will help!
