The NX80 (and NX73) use Intels 263 StrataFlash chip, so there should be more room. However, this will require updates to JackFlash, and may not even be possible, as Intel put in a security mechanism so that Sony could have (but not necessarily did) locked the FlashROM so that we can't change it. Knowing Sony, I suspect they did.

in other words no one knows right now
we don't know if we'll even be able to access it eventually

There should be 32MB flash. If anyone wants to bother to add up how much of that is used by Sony's built-in apps, you can subtract that from 32 and find out in theory how much should be left. I think someone did this once, but I can't remember what the result was. I think it was something like 5-7 MB left.

Thanks to all for your prompt reply! I own a NX70 and I'm listing all pros and cons vs the NX80 in order to decide whether the upgrade would be justified.

Flash ROM is extra space in ROM that wasn't filled in by Sony and the apps. Units in Japan and Europe typically have less because of the different language requirements.

Currently, it's unknown if it's accessible.
