Anyone-
I just bought an "open box" NR70 at Best Buy and was wondering about:
1 - does it come with the little adapter plug that slips onto the ac power cord to make it a travel charger like the T665? It wasn't in the box and I couldn't find any reference to it in any manual. If it should've been in the box, I think I'll head back and see if they have an extra lying around as they said it was complete.
2 - battery charged to the max - what voltage do most people get? - this one registers about 4.16
and last
3 - the screen on the NR70 doesn't seem as bright as the n760 when the backlight is turned OFF - it's definitely darker. Is this normal? I like to conserve battery power by using my Clies with the backlight off whenever I can. Just curious.
I guess I just want to make sure that the unit is functioning normal. I think I got a decent price at $219
Thanks in advance for your time.
I thought I was done when I got the T665 - and then this beauty came along!! But the T665 is still great.

1. No, it does not come with an adapter for travel. I bought one on eBay a few months ago.

2. I don't remember specifics, but seems that it is just over 4v when full.

3. I've noticed the screen to be dark without backlight. I'd assumed this was because it was color and not monochrome, but I don't know.

Sounds like a good deal to me! And seems like it is functioning fine. As long as the screen doesn't twist 360 degrees I think you're fine.

I think your unit is "normal". I have never run mine without the backlight ever, and love it. I think you are rockin' for $219.

Enjoy

I agree with Griff on all points. Voltage of 4.16 sounds about right. I have a N610 and a NR70V. The display on the NR is noticably darker than the N with the backlight off on both. The N610 is a little easier to read in bright sunlight than the NR, backlight on or off. Indoors with the backlight on, the NR is much brighter with much richer colors at minimum brightness than the N610 at maximum brightness. I guess Sony made some trade offs to achieve the georgeous display on the NR.

I rarely turn the backlight off on the NR, but minimum brightness more than ample for most situations.

There is no travel adapter with the NR like with the 665. A full battery charges to 4.16 - 4.20. The rule of thumb is that a battery charges 90% in 10% time and the last 10% charges in 90% time. When I leave the NR on the cradle for 8-12 hours I will get 4.20, when I charge it for 4 hours, I get 4.16. Over time, the max voltage may change but I have only had my NR for 30 days.

I purchased an adapter for my car, it came with a separate plug that allows both AC and DC adapters.
