I suppose it's possible to enter data for more than one access point in the network settings. Will the UX automatically detect which settings it should use from the current SSID?
I tried to find the answer in the draft manuals at FCC, but i could not find an answer.

I was wondering this too, and also did not find the information in the user manuals posted by the FCC. I also was hoping for some type of automatic discovery feature. Say you are in a Schlotzsky's, and want to use a UX. It would be nice for the UX to automatically give you the settings.
Maybe if we sweet talk the Bits & Bolts author of Netchaser (http://www.bitsnbolts.com/netchaser.html) he will add the UX as a supported device (when the APIs become available). :)

I thought for sure it was stated the the UX50 would have some kind of discovery feature. I can't remember where I had spotted it. It has a tri-level signal meter which isn't much to look at.

In theory WLAN auto detect shouldn't be very hard.
(I am not talking about sniffing to see what SSID is out there).
If you open up CFWL100SettingDB.PDB with a HEX editor,
you will see all your profiles in clear text (including your WEP keys!)

I don't have any details but I can say the Sony employee I know who has tested one of these said the auto detect feature was great.
I assume the UX50 will work something like the Tungsten C, where you are given a list of available SSIDs and you pick the one you want.

That's great news. Thanks!
Hope to hear more about this soon :-)

Yes, it automatically detects settings for SSIDs.
However, if you try to connect to an access point that uses manual IP and DNS addresses, you'll need to know that info, and if it uses WEP, you'll need to know the WEP key. But that's normal.
For open access points and Starbucks/Airports, it should work just fine and autodetect the necessary settings and available access points.
I too hope Sony adds this to the NX!

NO OTHER MODEL HAS THIS FEATURE SO FAR ------

Cliepro, can you tell me where did you get it?
I read all the manual but not mentioned.
That very important for me, cause here in korea a couple of companies service wlan, but they only present login program for PPC. :(
