One of these days we need to put up a "Hi, can you help an anonymous stranger commit fraud?" forum.

"Lost" CDs I'm a little more tolerent of. Sony is absolutely awful with helping you with preinstalled software. Most of the programs on the NZ CD are not available from the NZ support page. You have to get Palm Desktop from the NX page, and I'm not sure if you can get MS Import, ect. If you do legitimatly lose the CD, you are scewed. What's the point of having 2 dozen separate propritary programs that aren't easily available? At least Palm puts Palm Desktop is a reasonably easy-to-find spot.
Supprt for Vaios is about as bad. I have a brand spanking new TR1AP</brag>. My usual with OEM machines is to reformat, reinstall the OS and then only install the programs I need. The laptop doesn't come with a real XP CD. In addition to that, not all the drivers (in particular the non-standard 1280x768 LCD driver!) are available on the Web. Thank god for the Usenet! If Sony didn't make such great hardware, I'd never give them a second look.

i would think it is worth it to repair it.... did you get an estimate yet? then sell it...
better than nothing... so is it out of warranty? how long is the warranty? i guess i thought it was a year..

I don't think broken screens are covered by warranty. The NZ90 has to still be in warranty otherwise, since it hasn't been out for a year yet. Sony's charge to repair it will be in the $150.00 to $200.00 range. It's still far cheaper than buying a new one.

Anyway, after reading more posts by this NZ90user....i'm not sure whether or not he stole an NZ90 and abused it and wanted to sell a busted up unit at a crazy price, or is just trying to cause trouble with his/her inconsistent story about "not needing a PDA" then "wanting to get a UX50" (as one example among MANY).
One thing is certain tho, he/she's definitely NOT trustworthy.

I took apart the back of my NZ90 to try to "fix" the problem with screen not working when rotated a certain way. Nothing looked amiss but hey, voila! it works now. Go figure. Those damn 5 point screws were a pain but they came out with a tiny phillips-head and a lot of pressure. The question is, what was wrong, and how long before it happens again? I'm going to invest in a decent case - i've been using a generic case which is too bulky so of course I never use it.

It's $138, actually. My screen started doing really funky stuff a few weeks ago. I could open a drawing package and try to draw a straight line from right to left. The image on the screen would look zig-zaggy like the pattern on a heart monitor.
I called Sony to have it repaired. It was way out of warranty. For a flat fee of $138, they are replacing the LCD. We'll see how that turns out in a week when I get it back.

Well, my NZ continues to work but the 4 little recessed buttons (calendar, contacts, etc) don't work when the screen is folded over to hide the keyboard. The 4 larger silver ones do if the keyboard is exposed. Oh well.

There is a small cable that plugs in separately. The plug may be loose or a wire broken. All of the wires are so small, it does not take much to break them. If you open up the back cover you can see if there is anything loose. I have the parts if you need or want them.
