just curious as I hit all the 3d graphics stuff at siggraph these week... who wants 3d on their palm/phone/other-device-that-shall-not-be-named?

I love 2D games, lets stick to that... 3D in such a small area is silly.

that's one of my issues.... but then I do 52" and sometimes larger displays in more memory than handhelds dream of... so I am biased. :)

dude, 3d on handheld would be awesome, if done right.
Did you ever see the simple implementation of openGL for palm os4?
it was pretty sweet, and slow!
I always wished the developer had taken advantage of the 2d chip in
the n760, but alas...
Anyways, if 2dimentions are good, one more can't hurt.
besides, you know that the sony PSP will have openGL(or some
form of 3d acceleration), thats a no brainer.

ps: i couldn't make it down to sig this year, how was it?

I know it is coming, in fact I already did a presentation of how to utilize it in my field. A few people thought I was joking when I said I expected 3D graphics on wrist/arm units in 2005 and commonplace by 2010. :)
Sig is going good so far, its only sunday. :) still more days to go, got shading classes tomorrow, we'll see how my brain survives. who knows, at the expo on tuesday there may be LOTS of Embedded systems doing 3D :) you never know!

3D could lead to lots of other apps other than just games --- so I have to say yes. Its the needed step to make PDAs more like the Portable computers the purport to be.
