Hello - I'm new to the website but have been a Sony Clie owner for some time. My NR70V died and I was upgraded to the NX which I got last week and have had a number of little, weird issues with. One is a fatal alert message I get when I tap on any of the alarms in the World Clock app. The message reads
Fatal Alert
Form68K.c,line:1748,No curent form
Reset - Then the Clie goes through a reset
This message box sits on top of what looks like a Set alarm page but I can't really see what's under the alert box.

Has any one had this same issue? And what did you do to fix it? Thanks, JP

I hope you didn't just HotSync directly from the NR70 setup! If you did, it will create problems as per Sony. The two OS's are not compatible on the Sony, as on the Sony, the NR70 had it's own proprietary graphics interface that's not compatible with the OS5 found on the NX70. To me, it seems that the system sound file has been corrupted for the alarm.

Page 171, item #10 of the electronic handbook manual advises against HotSyncing the old with the new.

Thanks for your reply. I did not hotsync off the NR and I was surprised at how different the update procedure was (I had been given the NR just a few months before and upgraded from a 610 - and that was an easy upgrade / hotsync). But the issue with the NX was I didn't have my old NR (which according to the operating manual I needed to convert old databases to new ones) so Sony CS walked me thru the process of converting old files to new ones. Of course I ran into the WA problem afterwards (not to mention I have an Audio Player skins dBase problem as well - but I have a "specialist" from Sony calling me on Friday to address that!). But do you have any thoughts as to fixing the problem with the WA? Please let me know. Many thanks, JP

I had so many problems with World Clock, I dumped it in favor of MegaClock. I ended up doing a hard reset after World Clock. :(

Unfortunately no, never had a problem with it. Although app errors can occur from almost anything, sometimes you have to play detective.

Well I spoke to the nice folks at Sony (If you can get to the right agents, they really can make your life (Clie) good!) - And what they had me do was delete World Clock, go to the computer and delete my user backup files, snyc, then reload world clock app again from the install CD-Rom. It now works and all the problems appear to have subsided. Of course it wiped out all my after market 3rd party apps, but those were mostly freebies so I will just reinstall them. Hope this helps anyone else having this problem. regards, JP

It does seem that you had an old db or pref file placed onto your NX. Now that your user directory is brand-spankin new again, I recommend you use Backup Buddy or something similar and do periodic backups. I usually archive my backup once a month onto a cd-r just in case.

I concur. Visually the world clock app that was, didn't look anything like the "now" World Clock app. And I appreciate your advise for doing monthly backups.
