View Full Version : Using hacks
Hi fellow users. Need some advise.
1) IS X-master or hackmaster better ?
2) Tried X-master but it is not in Hi-res..is there a version in high res ?
i'm using version 1.5
BTW, i'm using an SJ30
Thanks in advance:)

I'm not quite sure why the hi-resness of the application would make a difference, since you are only in it to start and stop hacks, but I'd recommend buying TealMaster. Very nice. I liked X-Master on my HandEra 330 better than Hackmaster, but switched to TealMaster when I got my SJ22. TM will also work with OS5 when your SJ30 wears out. :)

I use v3bHack to turn the X-Master to hires.

IMO, hackmaster is the best, because it is so simple and easy to use.
Here is a comment about HackMaster and X-Master from TankerBob website:
"X-Master (42.0K in full version, ~21K for Lite version) Freeware from LinkeSOFT. My hack manager. Very nice step up from Hackmaster at the right price! X-Master has a more sophisticated interface and Hackmaster quirks/compatibility problems are resolved. Full version has the ability to list all active hacks and the system calls they capture, which can aid in deconfliction. It can also save sets, which are particular hack loadings, including the load order. Very nice program, though significantly larger than Hackmaster. OTOH, Hackmaster hasn't been updated in years, and X-Master is fully supported by LinkeSOFT."

Actually, I believe TankerBob has changed hack managers from X-Master to YAHM. YAHM seems to handle hack conflicts better than X-Master. I changed to YAHM because X-Master would cause a crash whenever I disabled Uninstall Hack, or if I set X-Master to disable hacks during hotsync.

I'm trying YAHM right now since seeing your post. I really like the looks of the interface and was having trouble with random fatal crashes on my Visor Pro with Hackmaster, X-Master and TealMaster (no problem on my SJ30 though). So far so good with YAHM on my Visor. Thanks for recommending this!
Yep, Tanker Bob's website now says:

:)
I don't know much about YAHM (never tried it) and have no problem with X-Master for more than a year of use.
I don't use Uninstall Hack either, don't feel like paying $15 for something that I can do with freewares like Cleanup, LeftOvers, or SysTool. I'm used to check the creator IDs of databases, saved preferences, and usaved preferences before deleting any apps to insure that there won't be any orphans when I remove the apps.
