Battery life when < 50% Charged

My battery life on my NR70V diminishes EXTREMELY quickly after it hits the 50% mark or so.

I haven't timed the batter life when the unit is on all the time, but it I can go a 5-6 days of good use. However, 5 of those days, the battery meter says between 100 and 50%. The last day I can literally WATCH the battery meter drop. I just got done using it for 4-5 minutes and it dropped from 28% to 10%.

Is this normal? It seems very strange. I have learned to live with it, but I wonder if it is a sign of a defective battery.

No, that's pretty standard. I'm sure there's a very scientific explanation but I don't know it, I just know that's how my Nr is, my T before it, and my S before that. If you want to make your battery last longer turn the brightness of the screen down as low as possible.
