im sure the ux-50 will be available in Europe, two months after USA is normally the case... but if the specs of the euro version are the same as the USA version - then i'll get a USA version and same loads of money...

it would be a real cheek if the ux-50 was not released in Europe! Haven't quite made my mind up about it though. WiFi is great but I'd much prefer the portrait mode of my NR70V!

Where would you get the usa version of the UX-50 from?

I would order it with my credit card from amazon.com and get it delivered to my friend in New York who would then post it on to me in London.

I've done that many times before and has allowed me to get Clies before they're available in the UK and cheaper too... :-)

ahah. Didn't think amazon were so much cheaper. I'll have to check that out too. Have a relative in Texas who would post things to me too.

@ killah fury

How do you make sure you avoid paying import duty on the stuff you buy in the US?

I thought I was making the steal of the century when I bought my old N760C from an online store in the US, but when I was forced to pay £100+ in customs charges that were passed on to Parcelforce, I realised it wasn't such a great deal after all.

What's the trick? Send me a PM if you want

Amazon.com is not really having good prices. Check out www.pricegrabber.com , www.cnet.com or www.mysimon.com for the cheapest pricing.
Please note that you will always pay customs + handling fee if you order from an online store in the US. I would suggest to let it ship to Europe from a friend in the US who unpacks the unit and re-packs it to make it look used( original box should not be included). Let him/her send the original invoice etc. by separate mail and ask him/her to declare it as USED PDA or electronic dictionary without mentioning the model and declared at a lower value. Customs sometimes does not check and it go through. I did this once with a MP3 player being shipped from Japan to Europe and it worked. No guarantee that it works, but don`t make it too easy for customs.

A friend sent me the NR-70 in its original unopened box to Germany. He also declared the true value and called it a gift (which are tax free up to 20$ I think). Perhaps it was just luck, but I did not pay any tax.
If you let the US-store send it du Europe you pay at least 100$ for handling. So the plan with a friend worked for me and will hopefully work again with the UX-50.

by the way: in Germany the NR 70 was never released, only the NR 70V

UX50 will be out in Europe before end of october

I advise all the euro users to get it in switzerland where it's announced at 649€ whereas we'll get in for 799/849€ in other countries
