Has anyone else seen this? When I put my NX70V in the cradle, it reboots my PC...

It only does it with my home pc. I cradle it at work with the docking cradle from my NR70V with no problem, but when I dock with the supplied NX70V cradle at home, my computer does a soft reboot. I have tried moving the connection to a different usb port, but no love. It's not a real inconvenience, because I charge it at work, I'm really more curious if anyone else has seen this.

i had the same problem (only in windows xp) - the only chance to solve the problem was to reinstall winxp (and loose all data!)

I too had this problem when running WinXP.

Before you reinstall WinXP, you might try deleting the USB bus, devices, and drivers, restarting the computer, and letting WinXP reinstall those devices.

Also, how many devices do you have hooked into your INTERNAL USB bus?  If you have more than one device that draws the max power load from your bus, you might consider getting an externally powered USB hub and place those devices on the hub instead.

Good luck!

My boss had this problem with his Jornada. I don't remember if we did anything to make it stop. I'm guessing it was a USB conflict, driver problem, or some celestial event that was causing the reboots, but I think it was probably related to his USB driver. It hasn't done it in a while (at least I haven't heard cursing emanating from his office for a few months).

Oh, he was running Windows 2000, btw.

It is an option in Windows XP for it to reboot on error. I learned of the following tip from PC World. The restart can be disabled by going into Control Panel, System, Advanced Tab, Startup and Recovery Settings. Under system failure, uncheck 'Automatically Restart'. This way when an error is encountered, it'll be easier to identify the cause and also save an unexpected reboot. I have disabled the automatic restart on 4 Win XP machines with no ill effects. In fact I am able to fix most problems now, once the error cause is known.

I haven't had my PC reboot but it has frozen a couple of times when I place my T665 on the cradle. It does the same thing sometimes when I hook my digitial camera to the USB. The only thing I can tell is happening is a static discharge (actually saw it when I plugged in the camera). Something similar used to happen with my 3 visor models with Windows 98. You might want to check your grounding.

I have always been aware of the hazards of ESD(electrostatic discharge). I've seen it wipe many electronic devices such as keyboards, cellular phones, PDA's, and even home entertainment equipment. In my former job, using a static wrist was imperative, or be fired!

A co-worker and I both had that same problem. I am running XP and she is running 2K. Once I applied the updates from Sony (the link is in a thread on this website, Subject is something along the lines of UPdates) the problem went away. Same for her. It would happen to me once in a while (at least once a day) I applied the updates and resested my Clie about 40 times in a row and still to this day, 2-3 days later I HAVE NOT had another reboot!
To make a long story short. APPLY THE UPDATES FROM SONY!!!
Hope it works for you all!

It happens to me with Win2K. I trying to get into the habit of grounding myself before putting my Clie into the cradle, but sometimes it still happens.
