Change is constant.
Models have been discontinued before. If you use your Clie and love it, why worry?

Probably in a few more years as the TG50 just relativily new.

Most (actually, all) the models that have been discontinued went through several evolutions before getting nixed. The TG is brand new, so I would think we would see an upgrade (likely soon) before it gets the can.
according to sony "product life cycke" , I guess TG50 will be discontineud like befero Xmas or even earlier .. the price alredy dropped by $50

I still think Sony may put out a new model in the TG series that blows the Tungsten C out of the water. I thought initially that was what the UX would be. And it is and it isn't. The question is would an upgraded TG be too close in functionality to the UX so that they would compete directly against one another? So many rumors abound but I don't see Sony playing catch up with anyone. They want to innovate.

With at least OS5.2.1
32M Usable RAM
CF slot
No Camera
and up-n-down switch instead of the micro joystick.

Sadly, I don't think we will see a SONY with more than 16mb RAm for a long time. My guess is that in December, when the UX60 os 6 comes out, we will finally be able to see clies with more RAM than 16mb. For the time being however, I think a lot of us are gonna be out of luck.
Sony just came out with the NX80 and the soon UX50/40 and they have only 16mb RAm. There is no way sony is going to release a hi-res+ non clamshell model let alone a TG50 model with more than 16mb ram, as this would take away from what their top offerings have. The best thing we can do is wait. Hopefully the T3 rumors are true and the T3 comes out in a few months. I'm tired of having to deal with all the shortcomings of owning a sony.

One shortcoming the Palm devices have, and keep me using the Sony's is polyphonic audio support. It's nice having deep rich and enjoyable alarms, where all of the Palm devices in the past did not support Polyphonic sound.

Sadly, the TG50 didn't do as well as Sony hoped it would.
According to market-research firm IDC, Sony's market share declined from 16.5% in the first quarter of this year to 11.3% last quarter due to slower than expected sales of new models unveiled in March, which includes the TG50.
I don't know what this means for the TG series' future. Maybe it kill it off, maybe it will release a new and improved version.
My first suggestions for the improved version:
* Make the keyboard easier to use
* Get rid of the wavy shadows on the screen
* Include Internal Media storage like the UX series

Is it really that the TG is a dissappointment to consumers?
Personally, I think the reason why TG didn't go over as well is because there are so many different models out and they are released so quickly. I like having options myself. Problem is, if I just bought an NX70V that just dropped its price (which happened around the time the TG was released), am I gonna want to buy a new TG50? Likely not.
If the new NX's do really well, then my theory can be shot down. I predict, however, that the 73 and the 80 will be like the TG--people won't buy as many of them because it's just too soon. I don't think Sony will be able to keep turning them out like they are, epecially if demand begins to fall (as it already is).

i think youre right. a lot of friends i know will even pass the ux just waiting for OS6 or even the T3... the cycle is just so fast that models dont have much "new" time. there's always something out that's already better in such a short time. the NZ90 is one of these IMO

IT/Technology keeps on evolving thus it will definitely come to a pt whereby TG50 had to be discontinued to make way for newer & better products. There is no way to stop this evolution, we just have to make the best use of our Clie while it lasts.

Let it go,the great part about Sony is that they make wonderful Clie Palm powered products, just that the lifespan of the product would be rather short for they spend most of thier time inventing newer stuff

Putting it in $ & Cts, if Sony does not come out with newer products & keep the sales going, sooner or later they will run out of R&D budget...:)

I don't think it's because sony just keeps turning out new models. They're just not listening to the end-users out there.
If they released a T-or TG- series device with a 320x480 screen, 64MB RAM or maybe even 128MB RAM, no moving parts, no keyboard, 400MHz Xscale processor or even maybe the Handheld Engine, I guarantee that it would do extremely well.
