How do I place a photo to the left of my posts? I've looked at the edit profile page and couldn't find anything.

Under "Edit Options", click on the "more info" link under Avatar at the bottom of the page.

You can choose from "canned" Avatars until you reach 100 posts, then you may upload your own.
