Does any one know if there is a full size keyboard that will work with the Clie?

The thumb board is OK, but I need to take notes quicker via a full size keyboard (similar to Targus type for the Palm)

I use to have a great setup with my Visor, but that went!

NX70V/E

Stowaway XT you say. Targus brand?

The Stowaway XT is made by Think Outside and is exclusively distributed by Fellowes. It is sold at Radio Shack or online at Tiger Direct. It is about $75.00 or so and is far better than any of the IR keyboards I have used. (I have tried almost all of them). I have a Tarugus Universal IR as a backup but, the Stowaway XT has worked flawlessly since I got it. I allows my NX70V to literally be used in meetings and interviewing clients as a PC and it is faster than hell. There are a couple of anomolies that you have to get over regarding keystrokes to get to numbers and some punctuation, but 'cest la vie... its a bloody PDA but, the Stowaway XT makes it VERY powerful.... Thats my .02 worth

I have the Targus Universal wireless keyboard and I'm quite happy with it. The XT is supposed to be smaller which would be nice but it doesn't have a number key row which I would find irritating. The Targus has one fault - a right hand Shift key that is way too small.

Does the Stowaway XT keyboard, when you type the words, show up on screen immeditiately (no delay)??? I need a keyboard that is fast..

Just get the Fellows Branded KB11 style one (NOT sony's), it has the numbers keys and has a relatively normal sized shift key.

I've been looking for one compatible with the NX80, but have yet to find one. And the Universal IR one from Micro Innovation, despite being labeled on the box for the Sony Line, says on their website that it doesn't work on OS higher than 4.1 . What is up with that? What changed that would affect the IR transmission like that? Is there a New keyboard in the works from Sony, Targus, or somewhere else???

How about you READ the other posts?

There is:
A: The Stowaway XT
B: The Fellows branded KB-11 style stowaway
C: Belkin G700
and there are other IR keyboards at are OS5 compatable.

Does anyone know if the keyboard typing speed is the same on a normal computer. For example, when i want to type up a reply on cliesource, when i hit the letters on the keyboard, they popup automatically, no delay. Does the XT have that as well? (i want to get the XT, since it's the only one that can charge the Clie at the same time, and with an NX70, i'll need to do that...).

Anyone found any of the Stowaways available in the UK?

I haven't found them available in the UK yet but I just ordered one online from Provantage.com and I think in the end it will work out cheaper than purchasing it here in the UK -- it has cost me altogether including the HUGE shipping charge only 75 pounds. Now, compare that with the same keyboard being sold in the UK now (except it is the Palm version) at Dixons which goes for 120 pounds.

It doesn't make sense for me to wait for the keyboard to be sold in the UK when I can get it cheaper from the US and, well hey, I get it now instead of god knows when.

By the way, I am actually waiting for the DHL courier to deliver it right now! It should arrive any time today :)

The XT is sweet, NP with it on my NX70V. Solid (metal)construction, very compact, good key spacing and tactile feel.

One note: when you use another serial device like a GPS mouse, turn off the KB driver.

What about the KB100 that Sony has advertised on thier Japanese website? Will that be a Japanese-only market product?

But can you charge the Clie with Targus?....The NX70 doesn't last THAT long.

It is on Amazon.com so it should be releasing soon here in the US. That would be my number 1 choice. It's got all of the good attributes from the Stowaway XT and Belkin G700 in one unit. It's smaller (just a tad bigger than the XT) than the original stowaway / Sony KB11 , but it still has full sized keys. It has the number keys at the top unlike the Stowaway XT and it has the charging capability of the G700.

The PEGA-KB100 is up at Amazon.com and lists for ~$90.00.

I thought the XT had the charging capability, not the G700. Or do they both have it?...I need to buy a keyboard for school in September, should i wait for the Kb100 for later in August, or buy the Fellowes Stowaway XT now?..

They still have it listed, but not in stock 'cause it hasn't been released yet. It should be coming soon though.

trayip, the G700 is the one with the charging capability, the XT does not. However, I would wait for the Sony PEGA-KB100... That is the ultimate keyboard for CLIES, especially PalmOS5 CLIES.

Click on the yellow link on the top right of the page that says "Order it used" and it will show Amazon's price.

The XT does have the ability to charge the Clie as you type--the outlet is on the back of the keyboard. It accepts the standard charging cable as it would plug into the cradle.

I knew it! So then, what's wrong with the XT? It sounds really good, i know the number thing is annoying, but if ur just using it to take notes, how often will u use numbers....How does the KB100 charge? Does it do it like the XT (using the Adapter that came with the clie, which I will need to buy another one of (anyone know where???? ebay??)). Is there ANY speculation when the Kb100 will be released. If it's before sept i'll buy it, else i'm getting the XT.

The XT looks significantly smaller too. Review Here. (http://www.gearbits.com/archives/000038.html).

If I had a black NX I would get the XT, but I have the silver cased NX, so I prefer the KB100.

Yes, there is a key for the £ sign. You have to hold the green "Fn" key and hit the ";" key directly on the right of the "L" key on the keyboard.

So, not the traditional spot on the number line, but then there isn't a number row on this keyboard ;)

I should also state that there are similar keys for the Euro and Yen symbols. I also really love the ability to move back and forth between applications, change screen brightness, etc with this keyboard. A lot of options in my opinion :)

Thanks for confirming that. I'm always amazed at the keyboard on my Psion 5MX which has every European alphabet character variant. I'm amazed they don't do the same with all keyboards.
