I have a serious problem hotsyncing my NX73 with my desktop. I recently did a clean install of windows 2000. I installed the palm desktop software and data export utility. However, my desktop does not recognise the palm when i try to hotsync. I even attempted to add the palm usb driver usine add/remove hardware from the control panel with no luck. All my other usb devices work. Is three a problem with my cradle or palm drivers? Please assist.

Below is a post that I found that may help you.
Windows 2000 has a problem with USB drivers from Sony for some reason. I have 3 computers here running Windows 2000, on one it installed all drivers automatically after plugging it in, on the other two it prompted me for drivers and then couldn't find any. They were all straight from the manufacturer, no other software on them yet.
However, for a more helpful solution you should do this. Uninstall the palm desktop. Then reinstall the palm desktop making sure that the USB driver is selected for install. Then install Data Export on your computer from the CD. Then run Data Import from your clie. Your system should detect a Sony mass storage device on your USB port. It should "Not" prompt you for drivers in this step. If this works, close Data Import on the your clie and then run the HotSync program from your clie; don't hit the button on the cradle. Windows should pop up with a new device then continue on the HotSync, where you select your user name for the first time, etc.

I followed your directions. However, the desktop failed to recognize my Clie. I installed my Sony Cybershot camera USB connector and the OS recognized the driver. I'm wondering if the cradle may be defective.
Any thoughts............
