I am thinking maybe the end of the year. Probably around Christmas time. Depends on if there is anything avalible that would be worth spending more money on. Right now, my NX does what I need. If something better comes out and has a feature worth $400-$600, then I might switch.

that sounds smart

i might do the same thing
yep, I agree with cbulock. My current NX70V does everything & more than what I need as a matter of fact. I don't find the "need" to upgrade, it's just a desire if I do so. :)
& IMHO, Sony shells out a new Clie on an average of 3-4 months, once you start to get the hang of this, you'll be able to make wise decisions as to upgrade or not with your current Clie. :D

The way I see it, my NX70V with WL100 card and Stowaway XT keyboard allows me to do everything the UX50 would allow me to do with the exception of surfing in landscape mode. The UX50 gives up portrait orientation and the CF slot.
The NX80 does appeal to me, but it would only be an incremental upgrade from my NX70V and not worth the $$. I don't use the camera that much, but the application buttons in tablet mode would be nice.
My upgrade cycle is about 2 years, no matter what else comes out. This gives me the best cost/benefit for my needs.

NR70 to NX70 to NX80... each upgrade cost me about 150 bucks... it is worth every dime.... My primary use of the PDA is 50% for work (palm functions) and another 50% for casual picture taken... it is great... without clie cam, i won't be able to have pictures that I have... So, for me a better clie with higher picture / movie abilities or better business apps, I will definitely upgrade...

As soon as I find something worth upgrading to
you still have several months to think about it right? Larry? But then in another several months, something new will hit again. LOL :)
I know Paul Stronggeek will be able to jump for anything. :D

I will change my NX70 when and only when a new echelon of PDA devices hit the market... I will not meerly pay Sony to upgrade RAM and cases by hopping to a NX73 or 80.. this superficial upgrade offers no 'real' benefit to justify the outlay every 4-5 months or so....
... same thing with my DSC-U20 digicam... Have had it for 8 months and Sony just released the new U30.. however the only difference is the shell.... no higher res or anything extra..... pointless in the grand scale of things!!

i ugrade once a year. this time, around xmas time (waiting for yet anothe new model)
My usual cycle is about a year, but it totally depends on circumstances. I will upgrade when there's something that gives me a large improvement over the NX80, probably sometime between nine months and 15 months from now.

I plan to keep mine until it breaks down and they run out of NX's at the local store.

If you already have an OS5 Clie it is just silly IMHO to upgrade unless you get a ridiculously low price. I will wait for OS6. Notice that the NX80s are already down to $500 on eBay, NX70s are $300 or less. When OS6 devices are released in a couple months EVERY OS5 device will dive in value. Sony is being weird with this 2 month advance pre-sale. My info points to an OS6 Clie before thanksgiving but that may be Japan only....who knows....

Maybe Eddy, but I may let someone else "guniea pig" this one, after all. it is a new os and there will be issues, bugs and such to work out I'm sure. :)
I think I'll wait for the 2nd or maybe the 3rd version of the OS6 this time and who knows I may be poor by that time with all the millions I've spent for my nx80!
But quite honestly, I've got exactly what I want plus more in my nx80, so I will be patient an wait, after all I had my palmvx for 2 yeras before selling to jump on board the clie wagon.
There some to say it's silly to get the nx80 when os6 is right around the corner.
I say its the other way around.
I think it's not only silly, but crazy to blindly state that your going to jump on board a brand new os that's implementing so many changes!
I'd rather have the nx80 or the ux50 for a while and know have something I like and want to get me through until the gunea pigs show me (and I will be watching) it's okay to play with the big toys now!
Meanwhile I have exctly what I want right now along with other nx80 users and soon to be ux users and because "having exactly what you want" doesn't happen every day this to me is "priceless" my friend.
I probably won't be a pioneer on this one, because I don't need the arrows in my back.
I wait for you guys to report!
Side note: One thing that I find I'm using a lot more than I thought I would- The backlit keyboard. It's already enhanced my use of the nx80 along with the many other features.

Greetings everyone!
I typically have a LONG wait between upgrades (I went from a Palm Pro to a Clie SJ30 to the NX80!). I think I will upgrade again the MINUTE that Sony comes out with a PDA that has everything the NX80 has, but with the addition of:
1 - Integrated WiFi or Bluetooth or (preferably) both.
2 - Removable Battery Packs
3 - Higher Resolution 2-3Mpixel Camera
4 - Integrated FM tuner (with recorder would be nice!), and/or FM transmitter for car stereo MP3 use
Given this list, it could be another LONG time before I upgrade again! Seriously, though, the NX80 does everything that I want from a handheld, with the possible exception of the FM stuff which isn't really that big a deal to me anyway..... I think I will be with my NX80 for a LONG time :)
Best regards,
Bawko

at least double the ram
faster processor
better camera
an FM radio would be pleasing also
other than those, SONY gets enough of my money...................lol
3 WEGA's, 1 DVD player, 1 Dolby receiver, 1 Dolby speaker system, 2 DVD dream systems, 1 TIVO box, 2 DTV boxes, 1 MicroMV camcorder, VAIO PC, Ericsson cell. phone, the list goes on and on.....................I should be at the corporate meetings.......

I'm no "power user", but the NX-60 with the Eruware driver suits my needs quite well. Bluetooth support would be nice to coincide with my Nokia 3650 phone. (Infared beaming is a fair substitute, for now.) But the majority of things that I need a PDA for are more than adequately handled with the NX-60.
An upgrade for me is probable over the next 18-months (have had the NX-60 since Christmas). As always, the reason will have to be pretty compelling to dish out several hundreds of dollars. I've made a tidy investment in "outfitting" this unit and thoughts of going through that cycle yet again isn't something that I'm prepared to do "just because".

Get in line :D!
Do you think your the only one who supports Sony, LOL??
Hmm, it's been 8 months since I have migrated to a new Clie, in the past it's never been more than 6 months. I must be slipping in my old age :(
Shoot, I had to remortgage the house...
