IambicMail and SMS

What's the problem of iambic Mail and SMS when installed on an NX? The feature works fine on the simulator, but there's no way to have it work on the real thing! Anybody has succeeded in using the SMS on the Clie?

Anybody was able to solve the problem, yet? I would really love to be able to use the same app both for email and sms, for convenience and ram-saving.

As long as your Palm has a version of the Palm OS with the necessary SMS libraries then you will have this capability.

I think that the "necessary SMS libraries" are not installed on our NX (while present on the simulator). I'm almost positive that, in order to use the SMS feature we must se a "Phone" category under the configuration preferences like on the Tungsten or the NZ.

Where do we find the required libraries and how can we install it on the NX.

I have the SMS app from the NZ, together with all the files that create the Phone preferences. Send me a message @ lode@uol.com.br and I will forward those to you. Then you can try and if it works, erase the SMS app and only leave the drivers and see if it works.

You can download the Palm Inc. Phone libraries from here:

(Install everything. Disclaimer: I have not tested this in OS5).

This will give you the phone panel in Preferences. I've had it installed on my NR70 for months.

I've been frustrated with this problem for over a year. Iambic's assertion that their software is only compatible with Palm phone compatible devices is a load of bull IMHO.

Even when you do install the phone library, SMS feature in Iambic Mail still won't work 100% - if I recall, you can send but not receive from the phone.

Why is it that FunSMS works 100% on CLIEs that don't have the phone libraries installed? If the FunSMS people can achieve this, why doesn't Iambic?

The reason is that they don't have the time, or don't think it's important enough to bother updating in their software. I consider it a 'bug' rather than a feature limitation.

Iambic: Stop making excuses, update your code and catch up with your competition!

It does not work on OS5 devices according to the error message it displayed...
