A long time ago when I purchased my first launcher for my Palm IIIc, it was Silverscreen. Since then, I have been on their mailing list and just recently received an email informing me that 3.0 was on the very near horizon (2.9.6 it their most current version) with lots of changes and additions.

So my question is, does Silverscreen add all the things we like in zlauncher/yishow and the new Megalauncher (when released in February :-)) of background images and more custmization than the current version? I hope so.

It could be more fuel to the fire.

Since I own both Silverscreen and YiShow, 3.0 would have to be a significant leap ahead of Yishow for me to ante up, because I'm fairly sure there will be an upgrade fee. Usually is when it is a major upgrade, i.e 2.9 to 3.x. Did your email mention upgrade costs? Wonder why I didn't receive that email? They must have seen some of my YiShow praising posts here! :D

Yeah, I used to have SilverScreen, then switched immediately when I found YiShow. Hopefully the new version will draw back more customers.

SilverScreen is an excellent LOOKING launcher...the problem lies, however, in how much screen real estate it likes to occupy....a large portion of the screen is taken up by the tool bar, or the ticker if you prefer.....Other than that, SS is not a terribly powerful launcher....It does not add too much functionality to the standard launcher, whereas Yishow and ZL do....

Maybe they have caught wind of this sentiment, and will include some nice functionality in the next version....

I do have a registered copy of SS, so I would be very interested if it joined the ranks of some of the other top rated launchers.

I love SS. My only complaint is load time, but even that is not too bad. I haven't used the other launchers, but I think SS looks more professional. I can't wait for 3.0 and I have a feeling there will be some really cool features for it. I got the same email and now am anxiously awaiting it's release. Could someone post the features of the other launchers that make them better than SS. I would like to see a comparison.

Good Afternoon-

I too started out with SilverScreen with my Vx and Visor. After I moved to my n610c I kept SS until I bought my NR70v. There were a couple of bugs that they"wouldn't" solve for me and they did not offer the functionality (reference arinvolvo's post above) that YiShow did. So I switched to YiShow and have only been tempted to stray by zLauncher (demo'ing it now, so far I am still leaning toward YiShow). SS 3.0 will have to really impress for me to switch now. Good luck to those guys at PocketSensei though.

Exactly! Silverscreen is still good for low-res devices. I think I still have it loaded onto my S300, Palm IIIe, and Handspring Visor.

http://www.LaunchPlug.com/Launcher_chart.html should give you most of the info you need. It's being updated as new versions are released and new items are though of by ClieSource members to add to the chart.

Cheers.

I had the same : Silverscreen on my Visor Deluxe, then when I bought the Clie I installed Yishow because of the Hires capability, the MS browser and abandoned SS !
SS is nice for low res PDA, Yishow for hi res PDA.

Long live Senseipocket.

I use to have silverscreen on my o'l Handspring visor platinum. But when i got my NR70v support the lack of hi-res support turned me off so i got zlauncher the best launcher out there.

But I never tested it again.
I'm happy with Yishow 5.7
