Anybody have any more details on the OpenGL support in the UX? This would seem to open a lot of new gaming possibilities. Unfortunately all I get out of the Japanese translation is that OpenGL is supported. That's a pretty big breakthrough for handhelds if accurate

Maybe they're using it for the 3D launcher.

OpenGL? Do you want to play Quake or Doom3 with a headup display with the UX or what?
Where did you read that OpenGL is supported? Didn`t find that info on the specs page of SONY Japan. Would be surprised if it really had OpenGL... It is still a PDA...

The translation isn't very useful but you can see the powerpoint slide at the bottom of this page that mentions the OpenGL.

The slide on the website says:
-OpenGL based software onboard
-3D graphics function
2D graphics engine + software processing
I guess that they wan to say OpenGL is a software driver. They probably use the DSP for it (not sure about this). I assume that the 3D OpenGL capabilities are mainly used for the new 3D launcher.
i cant remember where
but i stated that the only thing that supported their open gl so far is the 3d launcher

They also have a demo app that was using OpenGL.
