Just wanted to let everyone know that Cerience released RepliGo 1.2 today. See the full press release by clicking here (http://www.cerience.com/pages/news/071703.htm).
The main push for this release was to package RepliGo Viewer into a separate, freely distributable package so it can be utilized by any Palm OS user.
Cerience is also providing a free RepliGo Viewer for Windows product which allows you to view your converted documents right on your PC.
This new viewing software can be downloaded at www.RepliGo.com. If you visit this site from your Palm, you can actually get the latest version of RepliGo Viewer wirelessly. Give it a try!
RepliGo Viewer itself has been updated with a few bug fixes. A major focus was to make sure it worked well with the most popular email and Web browser clients, ensuring a good wireless experience with RepliGo documents.
The conversion software has been slightly enhanced with the typical bug fixes. We have also added the ability to email RepliGo documents during the conversion process and now allow you to archive your converted documents to a separate folder on your PC. This is especially useful when utilized with the desktop viewing software.
To learn more about RepliGo, please visit www.Cerience.com.

Dave,
Did version 1.2 get any improvement in the speed while opening a file from memory stick? I tried 1.1 a while ago and I was put off by the extremely long loading time of opening a document from memory stick .
Thanks.

No Mike. We realize this is frustrating and will address this issue in a future release.

Dave,
I just completed the version 1.2 upgrade wirelessly from NetFront on my NX70V with WL100 card. Pretty slick and one of the nicest upgrade apps I've seen for the Palm.
The upgrade looks good from the limited time I've spent with it.
When will we see features such as categories?
Keep up the good work!

Glad to see you will try to address MS access speed, keep up the great work!
I expect that you will be able to support landscape mode in that new clamshell CLIE?
Actually, can you do landscape mode with current HiRes+ devices?

Yes, it does full landscape on the NX/NZ series. You can set your view so that the page width equals the screen width, and it works very well and is very readable on the NX.

The over-the-air installation is pretty powerful. We hope it catches on.
Categories... This is another one of those features we should be addressing in the future. I see all of the feedback and this one is right up there.

Great, I can't wait. Let's see; wireless/network capabilities, a desktop viewer that shows promise for more powerful features and desktop>><<handheld interaction.....combine the two.......drool.

Ditto for me too!
Additionally, I no longer need PowerRun to launch it, to save on RAM, it seems to run fine from the Palm-Launcher folder, so for me it loads faster now :)!

Good article (http://www.brighthand.com/article/RepliGo_Aims_to_Be_Acrobat) over at Brighthand about RepliGo becoming the de facto standard for portable document handling.

I haven't tried Picsel Viewer, so I can't compare the two. Picsel Viewer does offer viewing of native files, but I would question the need to do so when you can get a smaller, compressed version of the same file (a la RepliGo) that looks just as good and takes up a fraction of the storage space.
Smaller files are easier to email, beam, etc.

"Of course, Cerience isn't doing this out of the goodness of its heart. The RepliGo viewer may be free but the application necessary to create the documents is priced between $24.95 and $29.95."

Your point?
You can view .pdfs on your PC for free, but Adobe charges for the full version of Acrobat that allows you to create .pdfs.

My point is that this thread has the word "free" all over it. Let's be complete and talk about the price.
Nothing wrong with charging, and this looks like a program worth paying for, but people might want to know the price before they install the software.

Repligo Viewer is FREE just as Acrobat Reader is FREE.
I don't think anyone that reads about the difference between the conversion app and the viewer app will be confused or mislead, so I don't think the thread's title is misleading anybody.

But the Acrobat converter is free too.
I don't think the posts here are misleading. But the price is worth a note.

OK, I'll agree with you that price matters. You're correct about the Adobe PDF converter for the Palm being free. However you still need Acrobat to create and edit PDFs.
I don't know about you, but to me the PDF viewer on the Palm is horrible, Adobe has really dropped the ball and opened the door for someone to come along (a la Cerience with RepliGo) and create a true Portable Document Format for PDAs (pun intended).
Cerience has found a way to allow you to have similar functionality as Distiller or PDFWriter by allowing you to 'print' anything on your screen to a document that you can carry on your PDA. RepliGo does this in a file that is more optimized to smaller screens, has a smaller storage footprint, maintains rich content, and is cross-platform compatible.

Yup! Adobe's PDA reader is the pits. Terrible.
