hi all.
i dont think my nx70 battery is working properlly.
i have been charging the unit from the craddle for the past 1 hour but when i switch on the unit...its shows me the exact battery power as before( 1 hour ago).
I can see the red light ON on the "ON" button so i know that its receiving power for the power socket.
i did a soft reset to make sure that the unit gets refresed properlly but still not luck.
any idea on how to isolate this problem?
Thanks to all.

Is this the first time charging the unit, or has it been charging properly for a while and it's just now starting to act strange?

Does the battery icon show that it is charging?

do you ever get a yellow light instead of the reddish orange one?

What does that mean? Is it reading 100% or 4.20V, if it is, then it's normal. If not, then you may have a defective battery. Remember, batteries and stuff can go bad for whatever the reason.
Thanks to all.

doesn't seem to know how to quote salient portions of messages and not put his response in the quote?

well yes it shows you the orange LED light and i can see that the unit is being chaged from the icon on the battery with the lightning or sumthing.
n2ifp-if 100% means 4.2V, when then on the power adapter is it written 5.2V instead?

Does the battery say 100% when you are done?

OK, I have to ask, have you tried changing the categories or doing something else to get it "going"?
Mine does that all the time and whenever I tap on something to get it "going" it shows the correct voltage after that:)

no it does not say 100% although i have been charging the unit for the past 3 hours!! the unit is switched off so i would expect to be 100% but for the past 3 hours it is just showing 75% charged.
and yes, i have done a soft reset to make sure the Clie gets refershed but still stuck with the 75% charged.
I can see tha the Clie is getting charged cause of the lightning symbol in the battery icon and the LED status of the ON button is in orange colour.

... maybe it is time for a new battery - or a new Clie!!

DOPE!! no $ for a new Clie so could you tell me what battery model to get and how much does it cost.
i am using the NX70V and does SOny provide warrenty for its batteries cause the unit is still under 1 yr warrent?

I don't know, where did it come from?? I agree that it looks like a new battery is needed.
I am so used to seeing the battery voltage at the top of the screen in ZLauncher.
The nomial battery voltage is 4.2 volts, the 5.2 volts is the input voltage from the power source plugged into the wall.

I've been having a similar problem, except (I think) worse. My NX charges okay if I leave it in the cradle or plugged into the adapter all night, but if I don't do that, I lose power. I'm talking turning it off at 100% and then having it not come on in the morning because the battery has drained down to below 20% - overnight - without the Clie being on! WTF is that about? I don't have any programs running that I can think of.
Sony Support told me to do a hard reset and then see if I still have the problem. I hesitate to do this because that will mean doing without all my third-party apps for at least 24 hours ;) , but it may be the only way to figure out what's wrong.
Does anyone else have any ideas, or similar experience?

I had similar strange behaviour with my NX70 a few months ago. The battery meter was whacky like yours and after charging for several hours, the battery rating would drop from 100 to 70-80 in like a minute or two after turning on. Someone posted to just leave it charging for like 24 hours straight and this will fix the strange battery issue. I did it and the problem never reoccurred, but I never understood what was going on.

Oh yeah, when it was acting weird, it would turn on by itself too and drain the battery. If you charge it for a long time, the problem may go away.

Okay, here's something weird. I did a hard reset, like Sony Support asked. I charged the unit up to 100%, left it in the charger for several hours, then took it out and let it sit overnight. This is normally where the power would drain out completely.
Well, guess what? It's still at 100%! I totally didn't think that any piece of software could be causing that problem, but it looks like that may actually be it.
Now, how do I find out which software it is? I can't reload one at a time, then leave it for 24 hours. (Well, I could, but that could take days - weeks even!)
Does anyone have any clues about this?
BTW, I routinely leave my handheld in the charger overnight, or all day long, and it doesn't seem to help. Do you really think leaving it in for another 12 hours would make a big difference, or is this a different problem than the one you guys have been discussing?
