Confuzed ... SJ33

Ok, I have done lots of research about the SJ33 , and I decided to buy one yesterday.
So far Im liking it , its much better than my SL10, but......

once I found this forum and read some posts about the Zire71

im not sure If I wanna keep my SJ33 and get the Zire instead??

It has Faster Proccesor
OS5
Camera
Mp3 player (i hear that it is not good)


OR..... I can get for the same price a IPAQ Pocket PC.

Im not sure on the specs for that , but im considering getting either one.

also does anyone know if the PPC has WiFi ??

The SJ33 has an MP3 player so I'm curious why you list that as an advantage of the Zire ? OS5 is a disadvantage if you like to run hacks to make your device run the way YOU want it to as well.

Pocket PC's are quite a different beast. You'd best try one out in person to see if it's to your liking. I'm fairly certain that PPC devices can utilize WiFi.

Also, you can't really compare the mHz speed between two different types of processors. For most use, the SJ33 will seem as fast as the Zire 71.
I just got a SJ33 and am generally satisfied with it.

Things to think about concerning the Zire 71:
•no use of Hacks (as mentioned).
•the SD/MMC card will not mount on your computer desktop like the MemoryStick will, Palm does not yet have an equivalent to MSImport.

But, having casually looked at the Zire 71 in the store, it seems like a decent PDA, it's really your call.

i think the camera on the zire71 makes it better. plus you get a lot more in terms of attachement connectivity with it.

I don't think no being able to use hacks outweights the benifits of OS5. All of the major hacks have already been converted into OS5 apps, and there are now tons of apps that take advantage of the OS and only run on OS5.

It's good for the novelty but it doesn't hold a candle to a real digital camera.

It's probably better to get the TG50, it's usually found near the same price as the Zire 71 nowadays. It provides all the great os5 sony apps, plus bluetooth, and an awkwardly great thumbboard with a backlight. I never went back :D

That's true, the digital cam on the Zire is only a VGA resolution camera, adequate for small posting to the web, but really for nothing else. If all you want the camera for is quick captures for reference or attaching a *small* image to an email, the camera is sufficient....for anything else, you will not be satisfied down the line. If a camera is important, like PaulNB says, go for a true digital camera, not a PDA.

The mp3 sound quality on the Zire 71 is inferior compared to TG50 and other CLIE's. It's not horrible, but if music matters then you will be disappointed after using a CLIE.
