I am in Japan on business and have the morning free tomorrow. In December, I was here and went to LAOX for some Clie NX accessories. The selection was horrible, although they did have the mobile phone cable.

Tomorrow, I am going to try BIC camera. Any particular things I should look for that are not available in the States?

Be careful on pricing. For Japanese electronics things, I only buy what is not available in the States. Otherwise, the prices are too high and there is no support in the States.

Also -- note that prices at DutyFree in the airport are higher than in Akihabara, even in the same store. Also, last December, in LAOX's DutyFree store in Akihabara, the NX70 was a couple of hundred $ more than I paid in the States. Then, at the regular LAOX store, the DutyFree section did not offer it,but the regular store had it for about $50 less than the States' list, but I had gotten a $50 rebate, so the price was the same. You need to also be careful about manuals. You may end up with a product that has only a Japanese manual so if it is only a little cheaper, it may not be worth it....

Advice in another thread was to be careful on price too. I know what the best price I can get in the US is, and if there are only a few dollars in it, it wont be worth it. Warrantee is an issue ... international products, but no international warrantee - Sony might be advanced in some areas, but very backward in others.

Still, I have a number of contacts that are in and out of Japan regularly, and know the best places to go. While they have not been looking for Clies in particular, they are telling me where to go (nicely of course).

All the same, I am looking forwards to Akihabara. Will probably be there Monday night (depending on jet lag) :D.
