I would be interesed in how fast huge pictures taken with an camera on the MS could be opened with

AcidImage
SplashPhoto
PictureGear

Under huge i understand min. 4MP. Does it make an difference in speed if they are opened as JPEGs or Camera-compressions?

Work the programms only on NX or also on other Cliés? If so, how fast are they?

(I've read something that a 4-5MP takes about 20 secs to be opened on a NX. Is this true?)

Leo, if you have a pic that big, send it to me, and I'll test it out on my NX using AI.

Yeah, it takes forever to open pictures on the NX(I use a 4.0Mp Cybershot P9). Is it just me, or did it seem like PictureGear was a better software than ClieViewer for pictures? Something else besides the speed that annoys me is how the jog dial controls zoom in ClieViewer, where you used to be able to flip through pictures with it on the old PictureGear software.
Is there a better hi-res+ picture viewer out there than ClieViewer for OS5? Please tell me yes.

Yes!! There is AcidImage and SplashPhoto. There's been plenty of threads about them recently in the NX forum.

gothicaleigh, can you just post or send a 4 MP to rldunn so that (s)he can run tests? Unfortunately I don't have a dig-cam at all but am very interested in. Sony or not?

OK, I found a random 4MP JPG on the net, downloaded it, and tried it using AI. It took 8 seconds to load.
