View Full Version : All things Netfront
Just got my LAN card today (and yes it is really awesome to be posting this on my Clie!). I've read all the posts about what browser is best and for now, I'm just going to use Netfront.
So I'm wondering if someone could point me to a place to learn how to optimize Netfront (settings, etc.) Specifically I was wondering if there's a way to overcome the "page too large" error message and maybe even some way to get pages to load faster (seems to take a long time for all those Clies up there to get drawn in!) Also, is there some way to view pages in a "landscape" format?
Thanks for any help.

Supposedly, if set the cache to zero, it will handle the page too large errors better. I dumped my Net Front as it was nothing but frustration for me! If you are bent on using it, well don't let me stop you, ha-ha! Currently there is no landscape view, but I suppose the more stuff you uncheck, the faster it goes. What's the point if you have to disable everything in order to get it to run, when there is other stuff that works much better and faster.

Kill the cache, java, and css. Tables if you must have. Leave the images on. Ignore those with a HUGE :o personal vendetta against Netfront cuz there experience went poorly. And try it for yourself...
Personally, it works well for me. Most of the "optimized" sites look the same anyway. And yes, landscape mode would be a Godsend!!!

What good is it if you have to kill all the options?
My experience is shared by others, I am NOT ALONE!

I bought the wireless card and it worked great right out of the box with my Airport base station. But the NetFront browser was so poor that I ended up returning it to the store. Sad that Sony could make such a great hardware card but use such a poor browser. I had lots of "page too big" errors and would have to quite & restart the browser all the time. And it took soooo much ram also. Maybe the next version will be better. Clie Mail was a sweet little app tho, worked great. I just couldn't see spending $150 (U.S.) on the card when the browser (the main app that uses the card) was so poor.
