The following is a link to an article about the SJ33:
http://www.pcworld.com/news/article/0,aid,109034,tk,dn012803X,00.asp

Here are some words from the article:
"The larger battery and hard cover has had a big impact on the weight of the device, which is 7.8 ounces against 4.8 ounces for the SJ30. It measures 2.9 inches by 4.2 inches by .9 inches which is slightly longer, wider, and deeper than the SJ30."

In my opinion, the SJ33 is too heavy and too thick compared to the T665. Seems like a bit of a tank to me. Read the article closely. The battery life is measured with the backlight off. Who uses a Sony Clie with the backlight off?

Anyone else's thoughts are appreciated.

Thanks,
Alan

Well if you are using it as a portable mp3 player then you probably would walk around with this in your pocket while listening to music.

Still though, the weight is one of the most important features of a handheld and almost 8oz is a lot.

I find that the features of a PDA are a combination of everything that can be considered and considering some of the improvements in the SJ-33, I find they far outweigh any disadvantages. Every improvement Sony has made has been asked for by most users unlike almost every other PDA manufacturer. Everyone complains about battery life, the SJ33 has improved battery life. Everyone finds the SJ30 is misssing MP3 playback, the SJ33 has it. Some find the need for a protective cover that does not activate the buttons when put in a pocket, the SJ33 has it. Everyone complains that the buttons are not the best on the SJ30 and especially the T-Series, the SJ33 has improved buttons. Users have asked for a faster processor, that has been achieved. So now the result is a heavier PDA? I feel we have to put up with that when we cry for the other features. At least in theory the SJ33 is a winner which has resolved most of user complaints.

Lets wait for the reviews to come in and to have users coment after having it in their hands to decide if the weight is a deal breaker. Now the question is when it will be released in the US!

You make some very good points! As I have said earlier, this is a matter of personal taste. Yes, Sony listens to it's users, and that is very good.

Also, I like the idea that they have improved the buttons.

i responded to your identical thread in the general forum:

basically, i don't think 7.8 oz is right.

sony specs says 172g = 6.06 oz.

BIIIIIIG difference.
