SJ33 and all other Sony Clie color screens are trans-reflective TFTs: outdoor visibility of the reflective design plus the backlighting ability.
The best of both worlds.

SJ30's screen was always the same as the T655's.
Color screen wise, NZ/NX/NR/T655/SJ33/SJ30 > T615 > N760/N710/N610.

Shouldn't it be:
NZ/NX>NR>T665/SJ33/SJ30 > T615 > N760/N710/N610.
The colors weren't right on the N-series. The 665 looks better than the 615. 320x480 is better than 320x320. There are noticeable improvements in the screen from the NR to the NX(and the NZ may possibly trump that).
Anyway, it doesn't really matter. Even my old N760(less than 2 years and it's 'old'. that's actually quite sad) had a great screen compared to most other companies.

Actually, I was just talking about the type of LCDs. SJ30 and SJ33's LCD is the exact same type of LCD as the T655 and the NR/NX/NZ series.
Using my little formula above, it's:
Trans-reflective TFT with great color balance > Trans-reflective TFT with really bad reds > Reflective side-lit TFTs ;)

Is anybody POSITIVE that the SJ33 (or SJ30 for that matter) screen is viewable outside the same way the 665/615 screens are? I ask because my Palm IIIc had a "TFT" screen and it was NOT viewable outside. I think adding the "reflective" is what makes it viewable outside. Palm IIIc specs at http://computers.cnet.com/hardware/0-2709830-433-1556890.html says "TFT active matrix integrated". You could still see the screen outside, but in direct sunlight it was extremely difficult and looked better shaded whereas the reflective screens show better with more sunlight.

Jason you're a bit confused there. The term TFT refers to Thin Film Transistors, and describes pretty much everysingle color LCDs made for computer LCDs and PDAs today.
And as my post describes above, EVERY SINGLE COLOR CLIES' LCDs were reflective in design and are perfectly viewable in bright sun light.
