Hi,
An update on some more findings.
Recall that I'd posted on Sunday about how I'd reduced the framerate in order to get predictable framerate with the EruWare driver.
I'd ripped one movie and converted it with Image Converter for viewing. Now, I'm a newbie so I'd used claddvd and gotten 6 VOB files which got converted to 6 AVI which ultimately ended up as 6 MQV files.
The interesting thing is that all but 1 of the final MQV played on my NX70V. The 3rd MQV would play on a MemoryStick but on a CF card.
Well, I switched to CliePet's hacked NX73 CF driver and that MQV now plays.
The motion quality with the 3-bit hack driver seems to be smoother than I'd recall with EruWare. (This may be a placebo effect...)
Anyways, my findings seems to lend credence to the Sony NX73 CF driver to be faster. More important, it seems that this is one aspect of how successful video playback can be...
Anyways, thought that this might be useful to someone.
I am amazed that the NX73 driver works so well. MP3 works as soon as I insert a MemoryStick in.
I read elsewhere that the success some people (including me now) have had with the 3-bit hacked NX73 driver may be due to CFUtility. I haven't figured out how the "dual MS" option is implemented and how that may (or may not) affect Sony's driver.
