View Full Version : SuperUtility6
Has anyone tried SuperUtility6 from Handmark? Is it supposed to be like JackFlash? better?
Here is a description I received in a recent email:
Now you can take control of your device to view, edit, delete, move, copy or beam files from RAM, SD/MMC or Memory Stick expansion memory. Use SuperUtility6 to view the details of any database and access internal information of your device including memory, HotSync, OS and battery details.
Thanks in advance,
B

I have SuperUtility6 and it does not have Jack Flash functionallity. Jack Flash us used to move apps to ROM and Super Utility does not do that. It does have an attractive interface and supports hires+, other than that, it is hard to recommend since all of it's functions can be accomplished with freeware apps, sometimes more efficiently. One thing in particular that I find odd and inefficient relates to the hires+ support. Unlike most hires+ apps, Super Utility does NOT activate the graffiti control arrow, you have to wade through the menus to toggle the VG area. This is a problem if you activate their "Find" feature from full screen mode, because you can't input the necessary text to initiate a Find. You have to close the Find box, navigate the menu to toggle the VG area, then re-launch the "Find" feature. I emailed the developer about this and their reply was they hadn't anticipated "Find" to be a frequently used feature. I see that reply as "techno speak" for we screwed up, but don't plan to fix it.

I hadn't noticed that since it's default was the same as the sleep interval I had set in preferences. There is a handy work around, however. I use AOCtrl DA to control sleep settings and Super Utility does not over ride AOCtrl setting. AOCtrl DA has about 10 time intervals from 10sec to never. Never even works when on battery, something not available in Clie preferences (maybe with good reason, because if you select that setting and forget about it with your Clie on, there go your batteries, data, etc.). Operating on battery, a better selection is probably 10min or 30min, which will probably give you as much time as you are likely to need.
I actually just saw it at palmgear and will give it a go.
Looks pretty. Is quite functional, but I still need more time.
