View Full Version : Hacking in OS5?
Hi,
I'm wondering if there is anyway to launch the calculator app while in another app without it exiting out of the original app.
I understand you use to be able to use "hacking palm software"...but OS5 has removed this ability.

Sure there's a way to do this . . . Desk Accessories, or DAs work wonderfully, and they're free. Do a search in this forum on Desk Accessories. I believe you want the one called CalCalDA, which is a little pop up calculator.
Please ask if you have any questions after reading that thread.

I know what you mean, I REALLY miss my hacks as well! I hope someone finds a way, X-Master or Hack Master for OS 5... Just another thing on my wish list!

Tealmaster works somewhat and is OS5 compatible.

DJK In addition to the CalCal DA that jomoco5 mentioned, you should also check out this thread.

It's about a SilkScreen Plug-in that can be called from the fourth button from the left on the status bar. One of the plug-ins is a calculator. The only problem with it is if you use OKey, the up button blocks the Plug-in button, so you either have to temporarily disable OKey to access it or you have to install the extra file that came with OKey so you can access the plug-in manager from the System Preferences. Either way, with OKey running, you have to leave the app you're in to use the Plug-ins. If you don't use OKey though, it works great.

If you just want a hack and not a DA app try snapCalc...
I have used it for years and it works great on my NX...
I think it’s a nice basic calc for a PDA...
You can find it at:

Oh yeah it’s free...
Hope this helps
Thank you so much everyone for replying to my query!
