I was looking to buy either a NX60 clie or a tungsten. I have been using a visor but it no longer can keep up.

I will mostly be using it to look up medical information

As far as I can tell the choice is

big screen, big PDA, with cool but possibly fragile configuration (helped by some cases) vs. small screen, small PDA, not quite as fragile and likely more convienent to look at quickly

Price about the same (at least at compusa)

I will probably not use either bluetooth or a Lan in the lifetime of this product

I use a G4 macintosh as my desktop

Thank you any advice would be appreciated

If you're going with a Clie, you have to also get The Missing Sync to make it sync. Otherwise, the Tungsten series will sync with a Mac right out of the box. :)

Up to now, I still don't know why this is so. :(

Simple, Sony hates mac users.

Missing sync is worth it if that is what it takes to have a NX over a T. The NX is a far better value than a T.

You don't need Missing Sync so sync a Clie! Again, you don't need Missing Sync to sync a Clie. You only need it if you want to mount the memroy stick. It also allows syncing with iToons and iPhoto. Palm Desktop will sync with iCal and address book, and allows software installation without Missing Sync.

If you have a Mac, like I, forget PocketPC's. They are not worth the hassle. Somehow Microsoft placed a tiny version of windows in that little box, but didn't take out the part of windows that makes it crash. A registry. I hated all of mine, and didn't realize it until after I went through a Casio E11, iPaq 3660, and a Jornada 567 and then purchased my NR70.

The palm platform isn't perfect, but is much better to keep a handle on. Kinda like a Mac. Not perfect, but obviously better.

I think your money is better spent on a NX60 unless you need a camera. The SJ30 is nice if you don't care about audio on a handheld. However if you like games, you might look into a t665c or something used in that area since the buttons on an NR/NX can be difficult to use depending on the game.

Anyhow, you asked. That's my opinion.

I am a T series user and for that reason just dont see lugging around the NX series Sony. I have used both and if I had to choose I would choose convenience and small size over the bells and whistles of the NX. Then Tungsten seems to be a great little PDA. However if size doesnt concern you, you might as well get all the technology you can - go for the NX, or wait a couple months and get the NZ brick.

get the clié, and you do need missing sync to sync mp3 cliés. (625,... without mp3 sync out of the box)
