Hi,

I have just moved NetFront 3.0 from the RAM (before 1.92 MB free, afterwards 3.96 MB free) to the Memory Stick (before 11,246 kB free, afterwards 9,232 kB free), but now this cute, helpful little application--excellent webbrowser--won't start anymore! :((

Furthermore it denies getting transfered to RAM (internal Clié memory) back again! :(

What to do now? Any ideas? Why does this happen?

Thanx,
Martin

Your going to have to re-install it to RAM, and then you will only be able to run it from the Memory Stick if your using PowerRun or ZLauncher.

Thanks man! :)

Unfortunately I'm using LauncherX, so it seems as if I have to stick to running NetFront from there! :(

As cbulock says, the ony two ways to run NetFront from the memory stick is by using PowerRun or ZLauncher. Originally PowerRun was rewritten to make NetFront run from the memory stick. Then ZLauncher was written to do the same.

Speaking of Netfront, this new version is awesome, especially when used with a speedy T1 connection.

PocketLink WAS a good browser -- especially for going to PDA-friendly websites. But with NF3, you can go to any site you want, and it delivers the goods.

I run netfront in my Palm/Launcher directory just fine. Once it had installed in RAM. I just used McFile to move to the palm/launcher directory. I then hit refresh apps in zlauncher and voila there it is. It runs fine with no problems.

did you check the property of those files, uncheck "read only"?

Okay, after deleting NF3 from my MS, and re-installing NF3_inst by hotsync'ing, I was asked to perform a soft-reset, and.....NOTHING, nothing happend at all! :(

There is only the file 'NetFrontv3_inst.prc' on my Clié, hidden, not launchable, and even changing these attributes it is no good!

MMHein-

yep, installing NetFront is a pain once you've deleted it, you'd need heeps of free RAM inorder for the NetFront to install properly & for the icon to show up.

Perhaps do an initial backup, then delete some applications to free up RAM, then after a successful installation, just install back those applications you've deleted. :)

I can't use NetFront to access Yahoo's news, Weather, or Portal, but PocketLink does it with ease!!!

NetFront keeps coming up with "Incorrect Mime Type" all the time. Addtionally I keep getting can't open another window messages a lot, unless I kill the JAVA!

So yeah, NetFront is really a great piece of crap! Fortunately with the NX80, the PTL errors are very few now, as compared to the NX70. One day, maybe we'll get a decent browser!

Does NetFront support pop-up dialog boxes?  (i.e. entering a username & password to gain access to a site).

I use it to access SFF Net webnews (http://webnews.sff.net) and it works fine for me. This site uses a popup login dialog.

Well, I demand high standards for my web browsing escapades. Yes, some pages look really nice in NetFront, but it's far from being trouble free. Sheesh, sometimes it's enough for me to think about pocket PC :D

Would it be possible for someone to put NetFront up somewhere....maybe in Clie Apps?  I can't find it anywhere online, and can't find my TG CD.:(

If you go to the Sony support website, they have a version that's more up to date than the one on the CD. There is a link to the Sony support site on the main ClieSource page.

Also, would this work on a Tungsten C?

Not sure about the TC, but maybe the version that came with the TG is the one they have on the website. I can't see why the NX/NZ Netfront wouldn't work on your device.

The One on the Sony's site do not list TG50 as compatible devices because TG50's CD already have it.........(1.1.36).........There's a 1.1.47 from NX80/73 on Cliesource........ 1.1.47 Also works on my TG..........

NetFront v1.1.47 requires special installation as it was copied from the Rom of an NX73/80, so it does not have a self install file. v1.1.36 is the latest version supported by Sony.

If you don't see an Icon, it did NOT install. You need 6 to 8MB free RAM, for it to install. Once installed, then ZLauncher can move it to the memory stick via a shortcut.
