Hi,

Im trying to use SiloX to read a newspaper here in México called La Jornada. Thing is that I'm almost there but I have a little problem. The site is very compatible to be converted into iSiloX format but I would like to deactivate a specific link (wich is a very large image, no broadband here) and I dont know how. The link is called http://......./XXXXXX.pantalla.gif being XXXXXX the date in MMDDYY format.

Any help?????

Alas, I know of no way to disable one specific link among a series of web pages.

Now, there are a few things that you can try. First, if you are lucky, that one page will be at a different website from the one you are trying to convert. If so, you can use the setting "Do not follow offsite links" and it won't try to grab that page. If there are are other pages that are offsite that you want to view, you may have to forget about them or add them individually to the main list.

Speaking of the main list, that's another way to solve your problem. If you are lucky enough to know the exact name of all the pages that you *DO* want to read, you can add them all to the list (don't add the one you are trying to exclude). Then, make sure that you mark the setting for iSiloX to convert to a link depth of 0. Unfortunately, if some page names change daily or if new ones are added, this won't work.

The final choice is to just set the image size to a maximum of 100 x 100. This will shrink the image to a small size that won't take up too much room on your Clie.

And, of course, you can mail the suggestion to iSilo. That's a great idea to have an exclusion table to avoid unwanted pages.

Hi

Tried everything, but the problem is not that the image is to large for the clie, it is too large for download. Lucky me the pages have always the same name but the pages I want need to be retrieved with at least 1 depth. And the problem there is every page has the link column to the rest of the site so it makes a stupid loop.

Thanks anyway

iSilo's newest beta version does allow excluslion of url's. Go to iSilo.com and follow the link to iSiloX and download their latest beta. Alson you can set up a conversion to ignore imagesl.

I wanted to add to kennyd that with the latest iSiloX beta you can define *exactly* through RegEx (Perl) what you want to include and/or exclude.

dtsimoncic, if you still have problems, feel free to ask in my forum, and I am sure someone will give you a solution :)

It is a way of defining pattern of matches of what should be included and what not. Ask in my forum for your particular web page, and someone will give you an example.
