Is it possible to get different icons to show up in the monthly calendar view? it sure would be nice to know at a glance what i had for certain days.. without have to click on the specific day.
Ie maybe 2 times a month to get an arrow to show up for the days i do certain things or something like that? Is there a better appointment/calendar program out there?

Get Datebk5! It's the greatest thing since canned meat! just kidding, but it's great, You can assign icons for all your calendar views.

I'm using Iambic Agendus v6. When the trial period is over, I'm going to try Datebk5 but so far, Agendus is everything I need plus more. I love the small hires font, I love the views, the icon/colour customizations... from what I heard, Datebk does the same so it is just a matter of taste.

Hi guys,

I have tried Datebook5 before and later change to Agendus. From my opinion, Agendus is more user friendly and less complicated. I am happy with Agendus now and may not change to datebook unless it has really a GOOD advantage over the current Agendus. If I switch to datebook, I need to time to adapt again for this new application. So why bother? (No offence to those using the Datebook5).

I think i will try agendus also before i buy something. That's the right thing to do. I tried both and chose DB5, but others really like Agendus. It's important to know what your requirements are and find what best fits the bill. Just be sure to give them both a full, fair evaluation if you can.

Well i tried agendus.. and after using datebk 5 for a few days i could only stand to keep agendus on my pda for about 2 minutes.
Now I am sure datebk5 has things i will never use... but i really like the way it is set up.
Do you think it is worth the paper/ink/time to print out the 100pg manual?
Also i can't figure out what the h*** to do with the icon splitter..

No, I don't think it's worthwhile to PRINT the manual. However, I'd suggest taking some time and stepping through it on your computer with your PDA in hand. Read about the various features and then try them out. This approach worked great for me. Then, after using it for several months, I recently came back to the manual and focused on the things I didn't really use or understand. I learned some more great features (like custom views).

Don't worry about the icon splitter. You'll probably never need it. However, you should figure out how to use dbIcon+. This will let you add to and tailor the icon set used by DB5. Icons are a very powerful tool in DB5.

Good luck!

Speaking of icons... Does anybody know if either Datebk5 or Agendus 6 support hi-res icons? I have been trying Agendus 6 but I don't like the ugly low-res icons (and even the buttons at the bottom) it comes with. I have been looking at some replacement icon sets, but they seem to be low-res as well. Maybe you simply can't have hi-res icons in these apps. I hate to go low-res on a hi-res Clié.

For me, it was worth it to print out the manual. When I got Datebk4, I printed out the manual, put it in a binder and then took it with me on the bus to and from work a couple of days...And I read it cover to cover!

Then after that, It was nice to have a hard-copy reference to refer back to. I have NOT done that with the Datebk5 upgrade, but have instead have just poked around on the on-line manual.

I know printing and reading the whole manual is not for everyone, but it worked well for me! (Except that I think I may have scared some of the other bus riders 'cause as I was reading, I kept saying "Cool! Wow!! Way Cool!!!" as I read about all of the neat features!)

I decided to print out some of the manual and read the first part.. But I just want to amke sure i know all the "too cool" features and make good use of them. You never know there might be a magic feature in it that will change my life:D

I agree with the pluses...nice layout, color, customizing (the Today screen is kinda pitiful compared to Wassup, but...). I'm using Agendus on a trial, but am going to try DateBK because after using Agendus for awhile I've begun to discover all the bugs in the new version. Go over to the iambic forums and see how many complaints are there about problems. My biggest gripe is how it handles ToDos, or rather, doesn't handle them well. If you set the preference to not show undated todos, you can't see them when you click on the ! button and change to "show undated"...nothing displays (annoying bug #1). So you leave "show undated" checked and your daily list of todos are full of items that don't relate to today, making the todo list rather hard to use. Second bug is that even though you set the todos to display the date they're do, they don't. There were a few other issues with todos, but can't remember them right now.

Anyway, am eager to try DateBK *even* though it's not hi-res and as pretty as Agendus, maybe it'll be more stable!

I set the priority lineup in such a way that undated ToDos are always on the back of the list:

1 - Completed
2 - Due Date
3 - Priority
4 - Icon (== catagory)
5 - Type

Yep, me too...but another Agendus bug prevents the date showing when it's that day. In other words, if I have a todo set for today the 30th, it will not show a "30" in the 1-button view...and of course the undateds don't have dates either. So at a glance, can't tell what's a today and what's a no-day.

Drives me nuts trying to figure out which of the six todos showing are real for today and which ones are undated. Can't set the screen to hide undateds, because there's no way within Agendus to see them unless to reset the option to show undateds.
