Just in the last week.....will be working fine, then you go to power off and nothing happens when you hit the power switch. Also, if you flip the screen (ie swivel) the image won't reverse as it's supposed to; and the function buttons are inoperable.

Couple minutes pass, unit turns itself off automatically, and then everything works fine. Periodically thru out the day it goes back into this freeze mode again tho, where can't power off, etc

Any ideas?

Called Sony, they advised waiting until things are more consistant or worse before sending in.

Performed hard reset, tested then.....same problem exists with all the addon apps removed.

I have seen this happen when I use Netfront and the application locks up due to the file not being sent. What application are you using when it locks up?

...unfortunately, problem is in all applications.....'locks up' i suppose is not really accurate....i can do successfully any applicaiton...but just can't power off or get the screen to reverse successfully when it's in this mode.....I can't help think that maybe this is a hardware issue.......

Do a hard reset again and do NOT install any apps or software. Then see if it still does it, if it does then it's hardware, if it doesn't then it's software. Do NOT HotSync it either. Always backup first.

Then, it's most likely a hardware problem that only Sony will be able to fix.
