When I access the MS through My Computer, as soon as I navigate to the Memory stick (my E drive) the whole computer crashes and I get a blue screen saying I've had a serious error. The last thing I did before this happened was update my XP. Has anyone else had this problem? BTW, I am activating MSImport on the Clie first to make sure the computer sees it.

Thanks for any help.

what update did you give XP? I'm not sure this is it, since all my XP systems are completely patched, and I haven't seen this issue

I concur, no issues with XP in reading the memory stick. I have two Sony VAIO's and so does my little brother, all work just fine. Even when using a PCMCIA adapter or separate card reader too.

I do all the updates!

Oh yes, did you run Norton Disk Doctor or the error-checking program? You might have a corrupted memory stick!

I fixed it! I'm replying in case anyone else ever has this problem.
Thanks for the replies. I think they led me on the right track. My problem got worse to the point that in XP I couldn't even click on the PALM/PROGRAMS folder without completely crashing my PC. So I decided to explore the contents on the Clie MS through theCLIE Files app. I threw out a bunch of old stuff left over from expired demos. This didn't fix it either. Then when I went into the PALM/PROGRAMS/CLIEAlbum folder there were more directories than I had albums and clicking on any of them forced a soft reset. So I went into the Clie Album app and deleted the two albums that were there. This allowed me to go to the CLIE Files app and delete the problem directories from the CLIEAlbum folder. To make a long story short, my problem is solved.
Thanks again for the replies.

Thanks for your post! It helped me with the same problem. I just deleted everything out of the album folder and the problem went away.

I too encounter a similar problem.

I used MS import regularly to backup my MS. Lately, during the copying, my desktop (which run win XP) crashed. I tried with my laptop which run win2k. It crashed too.

Copying folder by folder, I identified the culprit, it was the directory used by Backup Manager to store backup set. I deleted the files and the directory, and every thing went smooth when I backup the MS. I then formated the MS. No trouble ever since

Only to point out that apparently, a corrupt MS, crashes winXP and win2k.
