It was bound to happen sooner or later and as it's a Sony device, sooner was my bet.
I still love mine and don't see anything in the new Clie's that makes me hunger to uprade....yet;)

You could not be more wrong. The value right now is forced down due to an over-reaction to the release of a new unit. The value will climb back up, not much but it will not nose dive. These are niche devices, not mainstream. The exact same thing happened with the NR. The value dove, then came back up again, now it is falling again. In electronics it takes 2 generations for the price to really nose dive. If you have an NR I would say dump it ASAP if you plan on upgrading, if you have an NX just ride it out...by the way if you have an NX, you should probably wait for the OS6 devices anyway...

I agree 100%, right now you'll see people dump the NX to pick up the newer ones...as soon as those people stop the NX price will rise again...

I can't resist saying it again! "Not if you have the Best Buy Extended Warranty!" ;)

I do have the BB warranty, but why? I am holding out for something better, the NZ or new NX's have not impressed me.
I agree with Ash, once the dust settles, some may find that the NX73 may not have been such a good deal.
BTW, I noticed last week the NX70 was discontinued, but didn't really give it much thought.

One thing that will help keep the NX70's value is being able to use JackFlash to regain 4.8MB of Flash memory.
Besides, having an extended waranty might nullify any losses...

Then again, Picsel Viewer, NetFront, Clie Mail, etc are all included in ROM. That's about 4.8 MB right there. Then there's the enhanced Decuma, better camera with half-flash in the NX80v, full 16 MB RAM, no need for the system updates for the NX70v.
It's going to be easier, but it's still not good. The thing I'm most disappointed with is the speed. They could have at least bumped it up to 300 MHz. The T|C is $100 less and twice as fast. Even the $199 Axim is 150% faster! (in moderation)

I actually got my NX70 after it was discontinued.
With the extras the 73 and 80 have, I am expecting one serious problem. With a second pair of hardware buttons on the front, I believe the swivel mechanism will wear out after continued pressing during games.

Yup, I just bought my NX70V right after it's being discontinued. in fact I think $399 brand new sounds better than the NX73 for $499 or the NX80 for $599. Besides I learned from my mistake, never go after the trend.. I lost so much money before, and I will not do that again.. I think the NX70V is just as good if not the same as the NX73 or the NX80. besides the megapixles on the camera, but hey unless you take stills it has no benfit on movie.
I am happy!! :) In fact VERY HAPPY! :D

For anyone that's interested, I saw yesterday that www.statestreetdirect.com still shows the gunmetal NX70V as being 'in stock'...
Get 'em while you can.

Anyone wanna tell how exactly the Best Buy warranty works?
abosco

If your Clie malfunctions, BB checks it to make sure there's a problem and they'll replace it with either the same model, a model of equal value, or store credit in the amount you paid. This doesn't cover a crack to the screen or accidental/purposeful damage.

They shifted it to that page the day they released the NX80/73 series.
