View Full Version : Who will buy a case for their NZ90?

Just curious, I was wondering what the demand for a case for the NZ90 might be. I don't plan on upgrading my NR70V, but if I did, I'm not sure I would use a case with the NZ.
Also, for those of you thinking about an ideal case, would it be leather, hard plastic, or metal? The main reason I have a case on my NR is to use it as a wallet. Any thoughts?

I have been thinking about this. I am interested in checking out the NZ, not sure if I would buy one.I really need to see the thickness in person to decide. The problem is, I love having a leather case on my Clie. As if it wasn't thick enough, I know it will be super-sized with a leather case on it.

I've seen some TRG pro's with and E&B case and they're ok. I'm assuming the thickness of the NZ will be about the same as the TRG, just longer overall. I belt clip my NR right now without much trouble, but occasionally I do like to put it in my pocket. The case doesn't bother me much. I do wonder if the new leather cases will open like a book or lengthwise. I'm also curious to see what Vaja comes out with. They always seem to be the high end, at least in the price department.

Funny you should mention this.
I'm at home mending a broken foot, so I've had alot of time to kill and most of it's been spent on here.
I have a case from roadwired.com - specifically this (http://www.roadwired.com/store/Product.cfm?categoryid=2&Productid=54) one. Fits my Nx great, clips onto my belt, it's sturdy and doesn't break the bank buying one. Also, I happened to notice that my laptop battery is almost the exact dimensions of the NZ (the weight is a bit off). This case fits my laptop battery, so I'll probably luck out and not have to buy another case when I get the NZ.
Other entries? I'm not a leather case kind of guy, and even if Innopocket did come up with a metal case for the NZ I'd never buy it. I've had two crap experiences with them and I'm done feeding them my money.
Red Diamond Uniform (click here (http://www.red-diamond-unif.com)) sells police supply gear and they do have a bunch of PDA cases. I haven't spent alot of time on here browsing, but I bought one case from them that works with my Nx. Gonna browse through them and look at dimensions.
Ripoff's sells good cases, and solidly made. They sent me a state specific list if anybody's interested.

I can fit my NX in a Covertec leather case in my front pants pocket with no problem. As long as it actually fits in my pocket, I have no problem carrying something bigger - well, as long as it doesn't stick out too far or pull my pants down!

Hehe, well a lot of people say that the NZ is top-heavy with a slim bottom... :)

well I don't have a case for my NR so I doubt I'll have one for the NZ. The idea of getting the flip and rotate design is that I don't need the extra bulk of a case ...

If I get the nz, I will have to get a cushioned metal case with a removable belt clip. The thing is so heavy that if you drop it without a strong, cushioned case, the thing will shatter. That is one of the reasons I might not buy it.

I hope a casemaker utilizes the backside offset for credit card, money, memstick storage rather than placing that type of storage above the clamshell. External access would be nice. There is a nice area there for storage...
I like carrying my NX and wallet stuff together. I was always misplacing my wallet prior to the NX. No longer.... So.... Yea, I'd get a case!!!!

What I'd like to see in a case for the NZ, is something with lot's of bubble wrap and styro foam popcorn, just in case you did drop it.
okay, seriously I think I may let it all hang out at first and see how that works out... the NZ is pretty big... not sure how snug it will be in my jacket pocket w/ a case also??

Heres a case that i have found that would work the NZ90? i hope?
note that it's 1.1" deep, so how it will work the NZ90 I'm not sure.

I will not buy a case if I were to own NZ. The bloody thing is too beautiful to hide. It's like if you were to own a modena 360 convertible, would you hide put a black leather mask to protect it from the flying debris on the high way ??

What about the case that is on the sony site?
I know that it is actually a universal case, but they say that it will work for the NZ90. Does anyone out there think that they would get the case from sony?

The folk at Vaja sent the following missive regarding NZ90 case:
We will be releasing a case for the Sony NZ90 in the futurem though we do
not have a fixed date at present. As soon as the new case is available we
will let you know by e-mail.
Thank you very much for your interest in our cases
If it's like the NX we should see one in 2-4 weeks from the introduction. The question then becomes: Do you want to spend $200 on a case for your $800 Clie? ;)

The roadwired.com case and Ripoff's are looking like the best cases for my needs. Good construction, and it looks like even the most expensive between the both of them is only gonna set me back 30 bucks.

Gravity always seems to be our enemy and their's nothing wrong with a little protection for our little Silver friends.
I use a case for my NX that I picked up from Wilson's Leather. One side holds my Checkbook, the other my NX (Using Velcro). It serves my purposes well.
Went to the Red Diamond Uniform website and they do have a beltHolder for the NR/NX that looks interesting. NX probably won't fit do to the extra bulk, but I'm sure this outfit will make a dedicated one for the NX since they seem to have a holder for everyone else and their brother.

One of my current cases is the one from Red Diamond; the Ripoff's brand I think the model no was Co-132 for the NR.
It does fit the Nx just fine and still has a bit of give in it. I'll be curious to see if it will take the extra dimensions of the NZ. Red Diamond is placing a call to Ripoff's for me for their best suggestion on a case for the NZ out of their current line. As of yesterday, they had no concrete plans to fashion a specific case. I'll post my answer as soon as I get it.
sweet. A nice comfy black cave for the nz to hibernate in. :)

Use a briefcase/suitcase/large purse, it'll probably be an excellent fit.
I like my NR70v just fine (and my women somewat like that too)
