I downloaded and installed the latest Build (626) of the Belkin 700 keyboard yesterday.

It worked great (finally!!!) except for one small but very annoying problem. The right side of the space bar remained much less responsive than the left (i.e. the space bar needed a much harder push from my right thumb than from my left to get a "space" character).

I found a great solution:

Gently pry up the space bar on the side farthest from you. You will see the white activator switch directly in the center under the key itself. If you put one or two (you need to experiment a bit) folds of a fairly heavy piece of paper between the switch and the botton of the space bar key and then resnap the key back into place, IT WORKS PERFECTLY!!!

Nice fix...

This would explain why some have the spacebar problem more than others... differences in manufacturing tolerances and your heavy paper helps alleviate this.

Great fix! I tried something similar, but needlessly more complicated. There are, in fact, 3 contact sensors for the spacebar; one in the center, and one on each end. For some reason, only the center contact has the rubber cap, while the end contacts are actually inset--and from what I can tell, therefore, useless.

So what I did was cut a few very tiny squares of electrical tape, and stacked them on the underside of the spacebar so that they're directly over the right contact. This way the spacebar press will actually make contact with the inset right-side sensor.

The paper method sounds much easier, though. While it won't really make contact with the side sensors, it will make center contact more sensitive to pressure on the ends of the spacebar.

Maybe I'll try to combine the two methods just for good measure...

On my keyboard the contacts on the far right and far left are completely non-functional, so I just discounted them and modified only the center one - which is obviously much easier!

I'm looking at getting either a Belkin or the new XT keyboard but I saw a post that the XT keyboard driver doesn't work on the NX either. How does the new driver work? Can you type at full speed now? (I've been following this Belkin driver thread for a while)
How does it compare to the size and feel of the XT?
Thanks.

I think you could always type at full speed. It just would get behind in displaying.
