Best Buy no longer takes orders for the T665c and Circuit City says they are on clearance. What's up?
Is the T665 being discontinued?

Maybe they're just out of stock. Last I check, CompUsa still have them. That was last week.

Maybe this means there is an upcoming T OS5:)

I hope not, I just burned out my backlight with a full glass of water last night in the dark. I gotta go by CompUSA and get a replacement. I'm glad I got the warranty deal.

Thats why I always put a bottle of Arrowhead on the table side instead of a glass of water. Its safer.

According to Sony . . .
http://sonyelectronics.sonystyle.com/micros/clie/
They haven't dropped it, so it would appear (if your source is correct) that it is strictly a BB decision.

but if you try to order it, it says it's no longer available:
http://www.sonystyle.com/is-bin/INTERSHOP.enfinity/eCS/Store/en/-/USD/SY_DisplayProductInformation-Start?ProductSKU=PEGT665CUKITC
This, plus the fact that many retailers are starting to discount them, usually means that there is a change coming fairly soon. If you want a 665, it appears you'd better get it quick.

The T665 was one of the most popular PDA's on the market!
I can't believe they would discontinue it but it seems that this is the case.
Other retailers I have checked with are indeed clearing the T665C out and claim they will no loner carry it.
All of us T665 owners will be a dying breed......:(
Maybe the T665 will be a collector's item one day and we'll be able to get lots of money for them on e-bay.:p

Yeah, just check SonyStyle.ca. Apparently they've discounted it again. They originally dropped it by $50 Cdn in Nov/Dec, then dropped it another $50 Cdn recently, bringing it down to $499.99 Cdn. The same price the T615 was before it was discontinued. As well as the N760C (at $399 CDN) when it was also discontinued.

 And still no new T-series device out yet. Just the big "brick" NZ series...

If the T665 were being discontinued, I would take that as a big hint that a newer version is around the corner.
My guess is a T form factor OS 5 device with similar features (but hi-res+) and MAYBE more memory, since it would seem that the T is more targetted towards "power users", ie., people who are more concerned with running a multitude of productivity apps as opposed to multimedia junkies, who by definition need more MS storage, as opposed to app storage.
At least that's my guess.
Ideally, they'd do something like this with the 2 Mpixel camera and no keyboard.
Well, here's to dreaming... :)

There is always something new in the pipeline with Sony. Keep in mind the fact that they are very secretive about future models.
It apprears that the Garmin iQ 3600 will beat Sony to market with a traditional sized OS5, 320 x 480, virtual graffiti, GPS built in, MP3 player, memo recorder, SD slot etc. IMHO, Sony won't sit back and let a competitor get a jump on the type of machine that so many of us are waiting for.

Harmony Computers has the T665C for $285 with $10 shipping. It also says new with full warrentee. Hurry while they last before the new models come out.

in europe the t675 (same to 665) is still available at some quite heavy ~350€. don't think sony will discontinue that line, would not make much sense for me:
sl-line: entry level color and bw clies
t-line: professional color devices (business oriented)
nr/nx/nz-line: hitech-gadgets with cameras and other addons
i do think that sony might pretty soon expand the t-line. an elegant os5 device with integrated bluetooth could easily level up with the tt

What I would really like to see is the T665, but with the addition of OS5, 200Mhz processor, the new screen technology that was shown in Nov., virtual graffiti, and built-in BT.

Maybe the SJ30 is the intended replacement. Together with the new NZ models, Sony already has a fairly broad product line.

In the past Sony has had 3 distinct lines:
S is entry level
T is mid level
N is top of the line
I would think that the SL/ SJ replaced the S360, so something else should fill in the middle when the T665 goes away.

I just checked out SonyStyle.com and there is no longer an Add To Cart button. I am positive that with in 5 weeks Sony will introduce a new Clie, although not neccesarily a direct replacement of the T665 (as in it could be a new Clie in the SJ series).

The only thing I would like to have on my T665C would be a voice recorder. I'm thinking I'll upgrade someday to an NX just for that feature. Unless they do come out with a "T" like machine w/o keyboard.

The CompUSA guy I spoke with mentioned that they were carrying only the SJ/SL models or the NX models. My fear is that Sony will completely replace the T series with the SJ form factor, even with the newer OS 5 devices.

I went to solystyle.com and found the t665 to still be there, and still available in the sweet orange color. (which i have and love and wouldn't trade for anything) I am not sure why you all are saying that it is going to be discontinued.

Sad to say that I'm in the same boat as timewaster. I love the T series, but want something with OS5 on it. I would have bet money that Sony would have introduced a new T at the CES, but "The Brick Pad" made it's debut.
Here's a nightmare to all that love the thin T series: What if sony release a new T series device, but it has the hobbled CF slot for wireless? Would you still buy? I for one would have to start looking at other alternatives. Anyone seen any reports on how think the new Garmin GPS/PDA is going to be?

I agree. The iQue looks even uglier than the NZ - way too Pocket PC for me :) It's pretty bulky in it's own right, too!
I'd still bet dollars to donuts that Sony will have a smaller form factor OS 5 device by summer at the latest.

Well I work at a retailer and like most have said the cost is droping. Now another thing that most dont know is that there has been more than an average return on the T665. I'm not sure for what reason but maybe there is something wrong with them....
Though I have had mine for 3 weeks or so and find nothing wrong with it except the well known crappy battery life.
Well anyway I will let you guys know once I hear something, I will see what the sony rep says :D

mmm... donuts.... aaaarrrrgghhhh.....
ok forget the Que.. to thick, but I liked the idea, and the SD slot esp with everything going on with the "new" memory sticks.
Migey, do you use the MP3 capability of your 665? I'm just curious if that's the main cause of the battery power, or if it's just bad in general?

My battery is the pits too and I don't use the mp3 feature on a regular basis. I don't like the fact that the battery runs down no matter what, even if you are not using it (it runs down slower but it does run down). Is this the case with everyone else?

If somebody comes out with a handheld just like the iQue3600 without the GPS, and therefore smaller, lighter and cheaper then I will buy it. Two great reasons are that it uses SD cards and that it has the Palm Universal Connector which has lots of great accessories for it.

The battery on my 710 runs down whenther it is in use or not. So does the Dell Axim I am evaluating and the iPAQ I used to have and the Tosh e310. Pretty much every handheld I have had exhibits this behavior.

Question on purchasing PDA on EBay.....
When dealing with vendors selling new items (still in unopened, original box), how easy is it to establish the warranty with Sony?

T-Series avialable again on SonyStyle.com
Not just orange one, but the silver one as well.
The "add to cart" button has re-appeared
It's not listed on the main PDA page but you can select "Color Clie Handhelds" and find it there.
Still listed at $349.99, though.

Sony requires the a copy of the receipt for proof of purchase. The warranty is not transferable so you will be taking your chances.

I went shopping for an Palm OS PDA the other day. Wanted the hi res screen on a Clie, but thought it out of my price range.
Went into Comp USA and saw a T665 for $299 USD. They had no more in stock - said they were being discontinued.
BUT - they did still have the demo. I asked for - and got - an extra 50 bucks off.
I am very happy!

This is the first time that I have seen something cheaper in Canada. Sonystyle Canada is selling the T665 for $399 CAN. That converts to $260 USD.
Makes me mad that I bought mine in late Oct. for $540 CAN. But I am also sad that it is being discontinued. Here in Canada, you can now get a T665 for about the same price as a SJ30. This is a steal, in my view. I love my 665 and I guess that I just have to join the ranks of the discontinued Clie numbers. A growing club, for sure.

I'm quite happy the T series has such a loyal following. As I got my 665 quite by accident (It was a slightly dinged demo w/o SW for $150, even later burned me a copy of the SW at the same store hehe).
I've enjoyed the heck out of it. But if they do come out with another T model I'd hope it had voice recording and OS 5.
