View Full Version : Docs to Go Woe & Address Mess!
I've put DOcs to go on my NX. I put "Documents" on INternal RAM and "Word to Go" & "Sheet to Go" on the MS. This works fine sometimes but I've noticed that it always spawns one of either Sheet or Word application files into Internal RAm after use! WHY?? Stay where you are damn it!
Also, is there anyway I can change the titles in my address book (no please don't tell me to get Datebk5 etc etc). I would rather see "Post Code" then "Zip" and "County" not "State". I selected English on start up, not American? (Just kidding - don't get offended)
Help would be gratefully received on both questions.

Are you using a Launcher like YiShow where it copies the files to RAM via the install/delete option enable?
Docs to Go and Word to Go Fonts, and a small db file are the only three files needed to stay in RAM.
He-he, LOL, sorry can't help with the addresses, but I can get offended if I want to...

Larry, I wasn't able to get Docs 2 Go to run from the memory stick. During the D2G install process, prior to running a hotsync, I ran the Palm Install tool, re-pointed the D2G programs from Palm memory to MS, and then ran a hotsync. Looks like the items got loaded to the MS, but .xls and .doc files aren't being transferred. What files need to be on internal memory - some small db file? ?

Three files need to stay in RAM, please see below:
Docs to Go, Word to Go Fonts, and a small db file are the only three files needed to stay in RAM. The rest of the app files are in the /Palm/Launcher/ folder. A folder of /Palm/Programs /DXTG/ is created for the doc files.
Chaps, found this at the DataViz webste - will try it when I get home from work but here you go anyway.
Problem:
After moving Sheet To Go, Word To Go, and Slideshow To Go to the SD memory card, they are re-installed to the Palm OS memory after synchronization.
Solution:
Documents To Go does support the ability to store the applications Sheet To Go, Word To Go, and Slideshow To Go on the SD memory module. However, the following steps need to be followed:
Install Documents To Go on the PC and Palm device normally with the first sync during the install process.
Open Documents To Go on the Palm Device and select the memory card from the category pull-down list. This will cause Documents To Go to make contact with the SD card and open it for processing.
Synchronize
Copy the desired applications to the Palm memory using the Palm memory card application
Delete the copied applications from the Palm OS memory
Documents To Go does not support 3rd Party Expansion Card managers. Users must use the Palm 'Copy To Card' function, in order to move applications to the expansion card. Furthermore, they need to use the methods describe at the following link to move documents to the expansion card.
I hope for the best.

Did you copy the apps or move them? I found with my Palm TT and tested so far with the NX60 that you need to copy them open a few files with the documents and then you can remove the old apps.
On a side note I found I could move all of the addons except Dataviz mail. Good luck.
Ok, I've done what is described in the above post and it works.
But you must copy the apps to the MS as described using Home-Menu-Copy (or MenuCOmmand-C) and NOT using Clie files to copy them over. Then delete from RAM using Home-Menu-Delete etc etc.
Spawn free at last! And a little more RAM freed up too!
T800;)
