I just purchased the NX 73v. Can anyone tell me whether I can covert a movie made on the NX 73v to my PC?

If it has an MQV extension then copy to your PC and rename it to MOV extension. Use QuickTime 6.x to view it. You also can creat a new file association so you no longer would have to rename it.

Good luck with your new unit!

assuming that the nx73v records in the same format as the nx70v, the movies u make are already ready for viewing on a pc. All u need is Quicktime. Just open the MQVs with Quicktime and they should play just fine and dandy ;)

OK then, but when I archive my photo's and mpeg-videos shot on a sony cybershop digital-photo, I save them on a cd-rom rom and convert them before to video-cd-format (using nero-burning-rom). This lets me view all my photo's and movies using a dvd-player.

But I didn't find out how to easily convert the mqv-files to mpeg.

http://www.visiblelight.com/ and http://www.discreet.com/cleanerxl/index.html both offer such products, the question is: Are you willing to pay that much?

Clearly not. Then I will rather try to puzzle the files myself into another format using the tips at www.vcdhelp.com

There's also a limited converter integrated into the Bink Video Tools at smacker.com (freeware)

QuickTime Pro is only $30 (maybe $20, don't remember exactly) and it will convert to .AVI, then you could use a freeware video converter to turn it into a VideoCD format file.

Thank you hansschmucker and thank you cbulock. I think like that I will successfully be able to converte the family-movies shot on my nx70v and my nz90 to mpeg and then create a videocd ;-)
