Hi,
I bought my wife a TT and tried the Web Pro browser.... I couldn't believe how much better it was than Blaser and other browsers..... has anyone tried installing it on an NR (Palm OS 4.1) ??? Can it only run on Palm OS 5 ???
Any info would greatly welcomed....
Thanks

I also agree that WebPro is much better than Blazer.
Of course you can try WebPro on the Clie, just do a back-up first. I think it will probably be ok.

First of all thanks for the reply...
Secondly... I copied the WebProV file of my wife's Tungsten installation Cd-Rom and then opened the WebProV Manual... and guess what... it says it's compatible with system 4.1 onwards... hehe... I'm about to try it out on my NR....

Great ... then I can have this on my Clie too.
SO much better than Blazer I just can't understand why Handspring have just not updated in such a long time.

Ok, I've installed... there are the problems:
For some strange reason the application does not appear to be Hires... can anyone explain why it is on the Tungsten but not on the NR?
Secondly, I cannot choose the Best Quality option from the Display Option Menu, again this is linked to the fact that it looks like HIREs is not working.
Finally, when I first loaded a page, I couldn't see any text, only boxes.. I then went in the Font Menu and changed it from Standard Font to Small Font, and it worked. However, I noticed that way it displays web pages is much better on the Tungsten than on the NR... is this because of the different font types? Does anyone know what font I should install to make it work properly?
Thanks

Sounds interesting. Is it better than Eudora web or Palmscape?

tried them all.... (browsers), personally think Blazer was the best until I tried WebPro on my wifes Tungsten.
Still, now that I installed it on my NR70V, I'm a bit disappointed that its not Hires.....
Wolvy, have you tried it yet on your clie?

It is HiRes on the NX70 as WebPro is basically an OS5 app designed for the 320x320 Palm Tungsten. The NR does NOT run Palm standard API's in v4.1, so I suspect that's why it won't run in HiRes.

Not yet ... but I do suspect that what n2ifp is saying is absolutely correct and that whilst it 'runs' in OS4.1 it does not take advantage of the OS5 fonts which make it so cool looking. I think that's why you cannot choose the Best Quality font.

Yeah, I think Larry is right... we spoke about this in another thread somewhere else in Clie Source.... unfortunate... I was very happy for a moment... yesterday night I surfed again from my wife's TT on GPRS here in Italy... I still cannot get over on how much faster it is... i think its a mixture between OS5 (faster processor, etc) and the new much improved Web Browser...
Anyway, really makes mobile web surfing a reality.... too cool...
I'm just waiting now for a Clie the size of my NR (with keyboard), with a bit more memory, OS5 and integrated bluetooth and I'll be happy...

Personally, I think that PocketLink v.2.53a (http://www.palmgear.com/software/showsoftware.cfm?sid=67537820030111180050&prodID=16405) is much better web browser for the Clie.
I can surf the net using MS bluetooth and my BT enabled PC, while sitting in the bathroom.
It support Hi-Res(OS4/5) and Hir-Res+.
For your attantion - Mdevelop (http://www.mdevelop.com) web site have only v.2.52 for D/L, which is NOT Hi-Res.

We couldn't get PocketLink to work without fatal errors on two different NX70's. It's a shame, because it looked like it had potential. Unfortunately it was way too unstable to use. I still hope that there will be better, faster, and more efficient browsers forth-coming.

Correction, I didn't realize that a newer version of PocketLink came out. I installed the new version a few minutes ago and is running well. I'll endeavor to put it through it's paces and see how it performs.:):):)

the new pocketlink works really well! Pages seem to load slower than blazer, but its not bad. I love the high res +!! Onces pages are cached, they load faster. One gripe though which I emaile the developers: once you're in hi-res+ and you try to enter a hyperlink or change some settings, because the graffiti is hidden, you can't do anything, you have to exit settings, go back to open soft graffit then go back to the setting or hyperlink, its kinda annoying. Anyone using Agendus knows what im talking about having the soft graffiti pop up at "choice" times would be nice.
