Status Bar for NX

There is a Black Status Bar listed on this site for use on an NX. Can anyone advise how to load this item as I don't believe skin manager functions on the NX?

I installed it using photoskin with no problem....looks great!

I used PhotoSkin as well with the Black Status Bar and the DOS GraphSkin and both worked flawless.

Glad you guys like the status bar. Actually, you don't even need any program like PhotoSkin to load the status bars and VG skins on the NX. If you install the .PRC files to RAM, then soft reset, they will run fine. The only thing is, if you want to delete them, you have to perform a warm reset (reset while holding the Up button) then delete them from RAM, then reset again. PhotoSkin is easier, but this way is cheaper ;) .

I did what you said but nothing happened except my memory went down. can't even find the files to delete it.

Hmm, not sure why it didn't work. If you are looking to delete the files, you could sort the files by size and every Status bar is 62.8K and SilkSkin is 85.8K. Hope that helps.

a warm reset is also known as a "debug reset" because it disables everything but the system drivers and esstentials. Then you need something like McFile or FileZ (freeware) to delete them

Anyone know how to actually make a Status Bar skin for the NX's and if there is any way to convert the ones that already exist for the NR's?

The easiest way I know of to create the Status bars for the NX is using NxSkinGen (http://my.dreamwiz.com/hangom/NxSkinGen1_1.zip). I don't think that this app can convert the NR status bars though.

Thanks, I downloaded the program you mentioned and will begin trying my hand at designing some Status Bars. If I have any that I think are worth looking at I will post them.

One other question however, looking at NXSkinGen it allows you to position things such as the visual level of charge in the battery indicator, and to disable the VG arrow etc. If I create my own skin with those elements in place will the OS still update the battery level and the availability of the VG area etc? Or do I have to do something to allow that?

You don't have to worry about any of that stuff. As long as the correct graphics are in the correct spots, the Clie wil take care of which icons to use when needed.

Most of the Status Bars I've seen have the button layout for the NR, not the NX.

Does anyone know where "real" status bars for the NX are?

I'm a total skin newbie :) can you please explain to me how to install graffiti skins and statusbar skins without photoskin?

Ok, got it to load the status bar just by installing it.  What is different on yours than the others out there?

Please make more or instruct us on making them... :-)
