what is you kinoma setting?
I am trying to convert some music videos using kinoma. I just tried to convert MJB's Family Affair video and the file size was huge 160,268kb... I then changed the settings and tried to convert an Aaliyah video and it was 93,051kb
What settings should I use.. I'd love to get them smaller but without making them look too crappy... around 15mb is good...
WHAT SHOULD I USE FOR THE:
format
frames/second
size in pixels
format
audio channels
bit rate
audio boost

Music videos...
Half the original frame rate (12fps for PAL, 15fps for NTSC)
320x240 rez
560 kbps if you've got a 33MHz Clie
(up to 720 if it's 66MHz, or overclocked past 40)
Clie audio at 47k or 66k for better sound quality.
This should produce very nice looking videos in the 15 to 25MB range. If your files are much larger than this, your source video is probably poor quality. Video noise does not compress well, and a lot of content you get on-line is already heavily compressed and does not convert well.
For longer content like TV shows and movies, you have to cut the video data rate down a lot to keep the size down, and for movies you'll probably need to cut the audio rate as well. You can get up to 90 minutes or so on a 128MB stick at 160 kbps, and it's still pretty watchable. I have converted several full movies that look pretty good. The longest was 98 minutes (well, actually, I just did a 3 hour movie, but it needs 2 sticks).
i got the "More than a Woman" video by Aaliyah to play fine on mine..the ORIGINAL video was a 38MB Mpeg file.
WIth Kinoma, at
340*240 resolution,
with 10 fps,
and about 480 kbps
audio at 33k
it fit on my card at about i think 16 mb or so..ill recheck in a bit...no larger than 19 thats for sure

how do i get the video so that it is widescreen or landscape.. I don't know what I'm supposed to call it...
its in the selection screen when you hit "advanced settings" and play with the "Custom layout"...
normally I click on the custom layout button...select the biggest resolution...then choose the appropriate pixelsize for my video
