Hi all,
Just bought my new clie TG-50 at Best Buy, came home, charge it for 5 long hours, and then turned on...nothing happend, tryed the soft reset, nothing happend, try putting back on the cradle waited few minutes and turned on...nothing happend...tried hard reset...nothing happened...is there another test i can do???
The point that i feel i still have a chance, is that, when i putted the first time on the cradle, it maked a sound...but after that no more sound on subsequenced recharges...
Please help, because the only problem is that i live in Brazil, and there is no sony support back here and iŽll have to send it back to the USA.
Thx a lot if anyone could help...
Edgar

The most common thing to check but which is often overlooked...

Have you checked the 'hold' switch? It prevents accidental (and purposeful) button presses from turning the machine on.

Yes, even because it is impossible to turn on, whith the hold button pressed, because the power on button squizes to the other way, unpressing the hold button...

Was it charging? I mean, you put it in the cradle, but did the charging light come on? Is it now off because the battery is charged?

Unless there's some issue with the charging, and your battery is dead, I can't think what else to check.

yes, the battery charges, the light comes off, but nothing happens when i turn it on, the first time the charging time was about 5 hours till the orange light came out, and now it takes 10 minutes to the light turns out... Guess theres is no way to get it on.........................:(

Does the keyboard light up when you slide the power switch to on?

Try to slide the power switch to "on" and hold it there for a couple of seconds. This forces the backlight to come on.

You could try unscrewing the battery door, disconnecting the battery for a couple minutes, then re-connecting.

It happened to me once; no way I could turn on the TG50. I then tried to press the reset button on the back at the same time as turning the power switch on; it worked. You might give it a try, and see if that works or you. This happened to my unit after I had had it problemfree for a couple of months and had just uninstalled an encryption programme. Since then, the unit has been working just fine; I guess it had something to do with that programme.
